This thread is dedicated to point out hard to reach building spots for humans (without the use of a jetpack, naturally). Most of these require the use of "slope jumping" where the game engine lets you jump higher than normal if you are moving on a slope-- and they can be pretty small.

Area without a good description in niveus:

The tall crates in human base in transit:

High ledge on a wall in transit:

Two different ways to get to the alcoves in alien base in nexus6: (useful for  :battlesuit:)

Platform in the red hallway between human and alien base:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-LlV-XAFus

The platform far up the wall on the outside in karith:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Av6UiJhRqj8

Alternate way to get to the elevator room, without the use of elevator:

And lastly, my favorite of them all:

The pipes in karith: (requires ckit)

There are a ton of other ways to (ab)use slope jumping, allowing for a lot greater maneuverability of humans (and bsuits). Feel free to post your own.

Slope jumping didn't exist in 1.1. Yet it was still possible to get to all those locations. It used to be challenging :-\. Tho I'm glad humans (and rants) got a bit more mobility, I just think this is a bit way too much and makes it way too easy. Also 1.1 maps weren't designed with this in mind, and thus it creates many unintended and gameplay changing ways to move around, for example the Nexus6 alien base. I guess that location is no longer very good for aliens in 1.2 (was the only very good location, don't remember any good player ever intentionally moving), as a saw can get everywhere very quickly (used to take luck and effort or a good lucijump).
About the other posted locations:
Niveus boxes with a rep+ret+armo, might be possible with just a rep and a teammate.
Transit human base crates with ret (same place as yours) (same starting slope->low crate->RC->high crate->ret->other high crate).
The WHOLE Transit high ledge was/is accessible with a double strafejump.
Nexus6 alien base: slow, but possible.
Karith: most locations the same way, except pipes required way more building or a teammate and some building. The pipes *used to be* my favorite building location, because, again, it *used to be* challenging.

I managed to get that Transit large crates in first try, failed to reach niveus boxes or nexus6 aliens base though :(

Here's another one, I hope it counts. There's a secret message for you :>

1.1 tyrant charging in arachnid2, haven't tested any tricks like this in 1.2 yet. Nice finds, the newer nexus6 one will be hopefully useful.

EDIT: Works in 1.2 too.

Here's another one in nexus6 too.

Heh, I had forgotten about getting up there with a rant, tho I used to go straight to the platform, without going to the pipe first. The nexus6 one in human base is also possible in 1.1.

Two more for Tremor:

The light fixture in human base:

One of the crate stacks in the storage room: (requires ckit or something to give you a boost to the first ledge)

That crate video in particular makes me agree in some ways with UniqPhoeniX. Sure, these crazy jumps and what not are really cool, and I hope you keep posting if there are any more you know of, but damn, when I see someone fly 50 feet across the air and land 20 feet higher than they started... It's a bit rediculous.

Good work though, keep it up. :)

A quick one, shortcut to the pipes in the beginning of the game; requires ckit/second player. (note: you have power there at the beginning of the game, if you don't you can just use a repeater)

How to get on the ledge in the crate room in tremor--as a builder. There's no real trick to this, just a ckit.
It takes roughly 60 seconds, however this time can be halved if you have a second builder assisting.

Hey, I got an idea for a new human buildable! It would be available at HS1, requires no power in the area, it's called 'Ramp' and it, well.... it's a ramp.

If you don't mind that it has a cube shaped bounding box and thus is completely unusable for trickjumping, it shouldn't be too difficult to implement.  ::)

The arachnid2 "hanging platform to pipe" can be done very easily with a mere jump.

not entirely true, you can double jump off of it.

Meaning you can't actually command a buildable to convert to a bsptree for collisions if only for an instant?

Well, technically every entity _is_ converted to a BSP tree, it is just always box-shaped. ;D

The engine can assign a non-box shape to an entity, but currently the BSP of the shape has to be stored in the map file, so you'd have to either add the wedge to all maps or extend the engine to load a second bsp file just for the wedge and possibly other entities.

With higher than s1 weaponry it is easy... without jetpack.. but if he could make it up there.... than this game would be really unrealistic. (not that we dont allready know that :P )

It's possible with 2 teammates at s1, assuming you don't just set g_antiSpawnBlock 1000.

Lolz - g_antiSpawnBlock 1000 should be the default everywhere!  Then we could all be popping as on DS Arena.

It's possible with slope-jumping.. anything's possible with slope-jumping. Dumped your laptop and need a new one? Slope-jump to a  new laptop!
