What do i do to get the standalone to work?
« on: July 20, 2006, 07:39:05 pm »
Hi, im new to this forum, and to Linux, so i'd just like to know how to get the standalone to run, and since i cant code, could someone explain the steps and what programs i'll need.

This is the message i get when i click on the .run file

Could not open the file "/home/maxim/tremulous-1.1.0-installer.x86.run"

gedit was not able to automatically detect the character coding. Please, check that you are not trying to open a binary file and try again selecting a character coding in the 'Open File...' (or 'Open Location') dialog.
USE LINUX

hi,
just open a terminal and enter
Code: [Select]
sh tremulous-xxxx.run
And if you entered the xxxx as i wrote it, just tell me, sadly enough i have to kill you then.

if you guys are going to get technical with the details then, 1) rasz_pl's command line works just fine and 2) i have to kill both of you because you forgot to prepend sudo onto your commands (and if you have a root shell open for non-administrative tasks, shame on you)

hmm, didn't know that. i guess that explains the annoying fact that tremulous.x86 isn't in /usr/local/bin
