Flamethrowers work underwater.

UniqPhoeniX

That should be in feedback, tho I agree. While on the topic of underwater, how about we speed up the aliens' swimming ability?

Conzul

Putting it here was a psychological decision, as there are those who probably don't mind its use underwater.

SlackerLinux

Doesn't need fixing fire is indeed possible underwater if you got fuel source and oxygen so why wouldn't a flamethrower work underwater

Yeah but there isn't oxygen underwater, Slacker. Only the hottest lava can burn underwater, and then it's not even burning in the sense that fire does. A handheld device certainly couldn't accomplish that kind of heat power.

Needs fixing.

lets see oxygen tank + fuel tank = handheld device spewing fire underwater
i still dont see an issue

People do that for welding and cutting stuff under water, so why not for weapons?
Although I'd guess the jet would change shape, not sure how though.

It would dissipate very quickly and all the heat would be absorbed very quickly... You'd probably get a little more range then with psaw. Except you'd boil yourself.

Except making a weapon that generates energy from the air around it actually be useful...Humans need more chozo weapon building skill, or at least some roddenberryesque blasters.

So tremulous happens in 2000 years? Huh, yet they still have things like shotguns and solid ammunition, and soft targets. Oh yeah, real futuristic.

Well we don't want the game to become unbalanced, do we? :P

1. Tremulous is _not_ realistic.

2. If we were being realistic, you would most likely burn yourself as the heat would spread through the water and hurt yourself.

3. How many times to people really use flamethrowers underwater?

Not really that big of an issue imo. But I wouldn't care either way.

Not often, but it's rememberable because water slows down all movement, meaning that the Flamer is even more OP then when it's in air, because the aliens cannot dodge away. It's a soupy, ugly death.
I suppose you could argue that we are not forced to go into the water, but flamerdudes often have nades, so that means a heavy (alien) has to supervise him till he comes out or goes away.

Lasgun shots should refract when they pass in/out of water.

Now you are just making fun of me. Go Wai.

Well, then these weapons should not work underwater too: psaw, chaingun, rifle, shotgun. I am not sure about energy weapons, but they probably should hurt everyone in water without direct hit. And psaw looks like energy weapon too, but sounds like engine whose consuming air. So we should be limited to ... grenade? :)

Tremulous water doesn't refract light. Until the gfx are updated, lasgun shots are fine as they are :P

David

Well obviously everyone's eyes have been technologically / evolutionarily upgraded to compensate.
Can't do the same for a gun.

I was said "...chaingun, rifle, shotgun...", not "underwater crossbow and pistol" :)

:) :) :) What's to stop the Russians :) :) from :) inventing awesome underwater rifles, :) shotguns, and chainguns in 2000 years? :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

And humans should be able to spam a full luci clip into a pool of water then take a nice bath in the irradiated water...A bath that never ends...
