Boosting FPS?

My map has a lot of open space so the vis fields are large. This makes fps drop down to 30 on average when you are in large open spaces. How can I boost FPS in these areas and throughout my map?

• Get a better computer.
• Foghulling.
• Reduce size of outdoor areas. If possible break them into smaller sections
• Make sure you've done hint brushes properly and add more.

Oh and final note; Large open environments tend not to suit Tremulous gameplay.
