Hello,
i feel the need to crosslink this article from teamliquid.net - a site that probably many here have heard of or even regularly visit - but even then there is still a chance to miss good articles.
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=128683In the article a non-professional modder (are there any professional modders?) describes his motivations and his work habits + much more (mainly showing stuff he made for SCI ofc, but not just). I think due to the expansiveness of the article it deserves to be highlighted here.
Since it's not related to mods for tremulous but a more general article i also don't feel it fits in the mods section of the forums.
Disclaimer: by posting this link i'm not saying i agree with everything he writes - for example this, in my view, aggressive attitude that you can only do modding if you devote yourself 100% is a bit much i think. Or that you can't ever get a job with the skills you develop with modding is also suspect because there are so many counterexamples. But still i think it is a good article.
