Mouse messed up [SOLVED]
« on: June 05, 2010, 08:15:11 am »
I have downloaded the game and was eager to get into it, however when I opened the game my mouse shot to the bottom right of my screen and there it stayed. Everytime I tried to move it, it shot back down to the bottom right. The changes it does to my resolution doesn't bother me as much, but if I cant use my mouse how am I to play or even log in?

So does anybody have any suggestions as to how I go about fixing this? Or is it just not fit for my computer...which I hope it is.

once you've started the game, switch to windowed with shift+enter, and then back to fullscreen with the same key combination. Now tap one of the alt keys. (assuming this is windows you are using). Did that work?

if you can type a '~' to open the console and then "/r_fullscreen 1" (without the qutoes) and then press enter you're mouse will be freed and the game will be windowed. After that you can try going into a game and then making it fullscreen by typing "/r_fullscreen 1" into the console.

Also, what client and what version of the game are you using? You might want to grab an updated client and see fi that fixes it.

You can get an updated client at http://projects.mercenariesguild.net/projects/mgclient/files , you need to copy the new client over the old one

EDIT: argh, yes kiwi, sorry.

I used the download recommended from this site, and I downloaded the Windows version. However the alt + enter does not work. And I typed in '~' and got the menu but when I typed /fullscreen 1 it said unknown command.

You'll have to use /r_fullscreen 0, not /fullscreen 0.

Okay so that works just like alt + enter, so my mouse still goes down to the bottom screen. I am able to type it out and it makes it windows mode for me...but the mouse is still screwball.

Well...I have waited for awhile to see if anybody might be able to assist me with this. Since I am unable to solve this problem I guess I will have to uninstall the game. Maybe reinstall it. because at this rate I am just holding onto a game I will never get to play...and that is frustrating me.

Heh, well thanks for the encouragement at least. XD
Its not that I'm uninterested in the game...its just aggravating to see its on my computer but I cant even get the mouse to work right to even hit start.

So what happens if you get into a game with just console commands? Does your mouse work then? Start trem, hit tilde (which is "~") and type in "/map atcs" once the map loads, open the console again with ~ and type "/team s", or "/team h". Now, does the mouse steer your guy properly?

Okay well that loads a map and I can choose to get in it, however the cursor points straight down and spins when I try and move it around. When I type in /team s, or h it just says unknown team.

You must be using 1.1
Sorry, I really can't help you, as I'm in 1.2 and WinXP. Vista is the worst gaming experience since DOS anyway, but there are smarter ppl around here than I about this stuff. Hope someone helps you out.

Have you tried running the game in XP compatibility mode?

That tends to fix all of the Vista problems. :P
Also, I would recommend the client update either way.

Right-click on the Tremulous icon and select "Properties".
After that, click on the "Compatibility" tab along the top.
Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (service Pack 2)"
Click "Apply".

See if that helps at all.

Well...it sorta worked...though I had to also check one of the color properties. But now my mouse is freed up. Thank you very much to all of you for assisting me. ^_^

Would you mind adding a [SOLVED] to the title of the topic, so that others can benefit from this too?
