Ceiling - Barricades

Why not? Thoughts and forseeable problems...?

I think it could be useful to protect ceiling eggs and tubes/hives from some of the heavier human weaponry. They could still collapse upward to let large aliens through in smaller passages....

I think it would be worth trying out....

Couldn't humans crouch under them or otherwise easily circumvent them (throwing nades under them, shooting under them, etc) easily defeating them purpose of building a barricade?

I imagine there use would be to cover a trapper from the other side of the base, or cover the LOS of an egg. I'd like to
add, why not Ceiling - Boosters as well?

Give humans wall turrets, and everyones happy  ;D

You can build trappers on the floor too :)
However I think this would be a neat idea too.  I'd also like to see eggs on the walls.

Eggs on walls can't happen. But I like barricades on walls or ceiling, would be nice.

Eggs on walls can't happen.

Just out of curiosity, is this because of gameplay reasons or the practicalities of spawning?

Its something to do with the bounding box and stuff I think

Ok, "won't" happen, it is possible, but doesn't work very well.

Agree with allowing barris on ceilings if it is easy enough to code.

IIRC eggs can't be built on walls because of the silly looks. A new egg model perhaps? Something that more closely matches the bbox too then.

and i am VERY stupid.

I think it's a nice idea, but the barricade model would look silly in my eye in the ceiling though :)

True. However, if we decide to build them on the ceiling, we are deciding that we dont need them to hinder human movement, but  rather to cover a ceiling structure from damage. On some maps, this would be a real lifesaver.     edit: on a further stretch, I think it would be good if their shape changed depending on if they're on the ceiling. I'm seeing a broad, flat leaf shape, much like a beaver tai that curves in toward whatever its protecting.

I think the simplest (read: only) way to do that would be with a seperate ceiling-cade buildable.

indeed, if you want to build barricades on the roof, then its just a regular cade except on the roof.
