Entry 1:
Title: The Last Mile

Info: This is the final large room I added to the map I'm working on. New skybox and texture set,
ceiling light model by Karvajalka. More than 16500 brushes and 1600 patches for the entire map,
compile time around half an hour on a Phenom II X4 955.

Picture: Made the screenshot slightly brighter with the gimp.

(click the image for the 1680x1050 version)

Entry 2:
Title: In the valley of the Machine King

Info: Basically inspired by Terminator and the matrix, I wanted a dark place uninhabited by humans where machines would be build from some sort of factory line without the need for buildings, as they are the 'rulers'. All brushwork/models are mine. Everything in the screenshot is made from brushes (6500) and patch meshes. Most textures are default trem textures, although the rock texture is from ancient remains and some Evillair textures. The skybox is from hipshot.

Entry 3

Title: Night draws near.

Info: A hallway made for Temple of the Trident a while ago.  I have since done a bit with it (you can just barely see the outdoors from the screenshot, but I took more time than I should have creating it :P )

Picture: Made slightly brighter with Photoscape for all you dark-monitored people.

Entry 4:

Title: Volcanic Night
Info: Created from scratch, began making this after I announced I'd partake in the competition. The scene is loosely based of the opening of Half-Life 1. I may continue to detail this in future (This is not a final).

Kiwi's Results

Ok, so I'm going to post what I though of each image now, but I'd like to start by saying that they were all very, very good!  I hope you all continue your work and make even more sweet Tremulous maps!  If you have any questions or want further explanation for why I scored the way I did, then please ask.  Ok, on to the results!

The Last Mile - Ingar:

Technicality: 10/10 - Looks good here.

Creativity: 13/15 - It isn't all that creative.  I could picture a ramp like that in may maps.  However, that being said you did add good detail which made it more unique then it could have been

Detail: 24/25 - Looks very nice here, but the skybox doesn't look much like a sky.

Aesthetic quality: 25/25 - Everything flows together nicely, but as you said the textures could use some work.

Preference: 25/25 - I liked the way that you set the camera facing a human running the "last mile".

Total: 97/100

In the valley of the Machine King - Nubcake

Technicality: 10/10 - Everything looks good.

Creativity: 15/15 - A very creative idea.  I haven't seen anything like it, and it fits well with what you described it as.

Detail: 24/25 - Detail looks nice, but I feel the pipes could look a bit better.

Aesthetic quality: 23/25 - The sky appears very crowded to me, and the right side of the picture is very dark and hard to tell what is going on.  However the rain is a nice touch.  The edge of the road also appears to drop off into the shadows, which might have been what you were going for but it looks too sudden.

Preference: 24/25 - Looked very nice, but I felt that you could have done more with the human taking up 1/8 of the picture.

Total: 96/100

Night draws near - YourFace

Technicality: 10/10 - Great.

Creativity: 13/15 - A hall isn't all that creative, but you did a good job working with what you had and the outdoors that can be seen thorough the window helped a lot, along with the structure at the end of the hall.

Detail: 25/25 - Looks great.

Aesthetic quality: 25/25 - It all flows together nicely and looks good.

Preference: 25/25 - I liked the way you used the shell casings.  It also made me want to know what that thing was at the end of the hall (which looks very detailed)

Total: 98/100

Volcanic Night - KnowItAll

Technicality:10/10 - Yep, looks good.

Creativity: 15/15 - A very interesting idea.  I'm already looking forward to riding the train around the volcano.

Detail: 22/25 - Good for the most part, could add a bit more detail though.

Aesthetic quality: 22/25 - I like what you did with the lighting, but the tunnels end to nothing

Preference: 25/25 - Interesting idea, and I hope you continue working on it.

Total: 94/100

Thank you all for your submissions!  It was tough to score them because they were all very good, and yes I know that all the scores are close together but I hope some more judges will come score as well and select a more decisive winner!

The Last Mile

Technicality: 10/10

Creativity: 14/15 - Its a hall way with two levels, not a bad idea but does not give me the 'WOW' feeling.  I would have given maybe 11 or 12, but you added a human running down the hall way, awesome idea.

Detail: 25/25 - The lighting on the walls looks out of place, especially the one in the far right of the screenshot.  The skybox is plain terrible, sorry.

Aesthetic quality: 22/25 - The lighting on the walls looks out of place, especially the one in the far right of the screenshot.  The skybox is plain terrible, sorry.

Preference: 25/25 - It is very clean and gives the 3D look, over all, this is far better than I could have done.

96/100
In the valley of the Machine King

Technicality 10/10 - Good use of the sky box!

creativity: 15/15 - Who on earth would of come up with this idea other than nubcake?

Detail: 24/25 - I was blown away, I felt as if I was playing another game!  I give you 24/25 because the human in the picture has a poky butt!  Also, I see rain pouring down and yet the ground seems as dry as a bone perhaps some puddles would make it a nicer look.
Aesthetic quality 24/25 - It looks like mayhem is about to break lose among robots, the human looks out of place in this robot world.
Preference 20/25 - Its too chaotic for my liking.

93/100

Night draws near

Technicality: 10/10

Creativity: 13/15 - Good use of the windows and floor / pipes under it.  I would have given a 9 or so, but the detailing is quite creative.

Detail: 23/25 - Not that hard to give good detail to a hall, try to do a little better with the lights!

Aesthetic quality: 23/25 - The light beam in the end looks out of place to me.

Preference: 10/25 - I'm not getting a thrill from this.

79/100
Volcanic night

Technicality: 10/10

Creativity: 14/15 - Not a bad idea!

Detail: 20/25 - I've never seen a square volcano... sorry!  Maybe you could of rounded it up a bit at the bottom.  The ship seems quite random also.

Aesthetic quality 24/25

Preference 20/25 - Reminds me of a N64 game...

89/100

The Last Mile - Ingar:

Technicality: 10/10 - Very Nice

Creativity: 10/15 - Not really all that interesting or fancy looking. Just a normal corridor(albeit a very well executed one)

Detail: 24/25 - Looks great, although I cant tell if that's just the glass texture or if that's the skybox? Nice detailing without pipespam though.

Aesthetic quality: 21/25 - It flows well, although its quite grey and blah.

Preference: 20/25 - Looks nice, but as I said, very grey.

Total: 85/100

In the valley of the Machine King - Nubcake

Technicality: 10/10 - Beautiful Brushwork, as usual from you.

Creativity: 15/15 - Unique, haven't seen anything like it in trem.

Detail: 25/25 - Great, although the giant robots are a little blocky.

Aesthetic quality: 23/25 - Its very busy, lots going on in the picture. The contrast between the right and left side of the screen is pretty huge, so thats a little odd... And the human is rather lame looking compared to the rest of the pic.

Preference: 25/25 - Absolutely gorgeous.

Total: 98/100

Night draws near - YourFace

Technicality: 10/10 - Excellent.

Creativity: 12/15 - Its a hall, so that's not a great starting point, but its a very nice hall, and the laser thingy at the end as well as the outside add quite a bit to the pic.

Detail: 25/25 - Beautiful.

Aesthetic quality: 25/25 - It fits quite well.

Preference: 24/25 - Laser thingy :D

Total: 96/100

Volcanic Night - KnowItAll

Technicality:9/10 - Looks nice, but its still kinda rough looking...

Creativity: 15/15 - Looks like it has some serious potential.

Detail: 20/25 - The detail on the inside of the train looks awesome, but the rest of it is kinda bland and square.

Aesthetic quality: 18/25 - Nice lighting with the lava, but the lava doesn't look very realistic, and it is quite blocky.

Preference: 23/25 - I am intriqued, although some smoothing would be nice.

Total: 90/100
