Powa seems to be a pretty abusive owner of AA. If you ask me, ozzy shouldnt have given him ownership. But w/e. He pays for it so the way I see it, he can abuse if he wants.

I usually undo bans like that that I make pretty quickly.  If you look on my banlist I actually have one of the lowest amounts of bans out of all my server's administrators.

I don't admit to being perfect and yes I use my server ownership to my own benefit sometimes.  That's my right as I pay for the server though.  For the most part you have to really tick me off to get banned and if getting banned from a tremulous server for a few hours(usually) or even a month is the worst thing you have to worry about in your life you have it pretty easy.  I just laugh at all the idiots that think just because they don't feel they aren't breaking any standards of conduct they find acceptable they are immune to being banned for what someone else finds un-acceptable.  You spent well over a collective 50 minutes in your base as a chainsuit in a series of 3-4 rounds and then began to argue with me about what camping is or isn't.  You then tried to mock and insult me.  I don't know whether or not you were aware I run AA but either way it was pretty stupid on your end.  I've lifted your ban because I intended to last night but forgot apparently.  

I would call you out for posting here more than I already have but AA currently doesn't have a site so you had no way of contacting me outside of the server.

Could a mod lock this topic since it's irrelevant to the site and poorly located as well.

No you see, when you have the !ban function you don't have to fall into any category.

I don't consider myself intelligent, especially compared to some of the people who linger these forums.  I do, however, know how to update my client, leave the base, type mostly proper english, and communicate with my team.  I also know not to cuss out the admins or to decon the base.

The fact that someone made the rules does not alone change what is currently written, allowing the written word to be "broken". If you define the rules to be "what I say goes", that is another matter, however.

Nevertheless, the term "abuse" is merely synonymous with and not equivalent to "breaking the rules". Abuse is often defined as an application to a wrong or bad purpose or misuse. What defines "a wrong or bad purpose"? Not rules or laws, as people are often accused of misusing rules, but ethics. Now I hardly expect an agreement on what is "ethical" server adminship since almost every person has their own opinion on the subject, but that is the point. When someone calls out "abuse!", it is to say that one misused (as per the definition) authority according to their own definition of misuse, which may have no connection with server rules. Does this have any effect on the server owner? I highly doubt it. After all, there is no higher power on a server except a server owner. But ethically speaking, I don't believe might makes right either.

I won't argue you with you on either of these cases.  I think people call out abuse, however, just because everyone else does.  In game somnus mentioned that he wasn't breaking any rules because they aren't any.  The server doesn't really have a rule set and when it did it was "whatever ozzy says goes goes."  So that nullifies your first point.  That was also more what I was referencing because in game he argued about rules and not about abuse until after he got banned.  So yes I understand that Abuse is defined more as mis-use but using your power in a way that isn't reflected in the rules is the general conception of what abuse is.  Especially since what is and isn't abuse is so adjacent to each individual's own ethics code.  In most tremulous cases, abuse is when an admin steps past the rules or just outside them because most of the rest of the time it would be the rule itself that is the issue not the admin.  What if a rule is ridiculous and the admin follows it?  Technically it's hardly the admin's abuse because he's just following the standards set for him upon receiving his adminship.  


Regardless I'm just digging my own hole by posting in this waste of a topic.  I've played a few games with somnus since this and I have still yet to date in over a dozen rounds ever seen him perform a single rush.  He has always camped until game's end.  Even when his team wins he camps while the rest of them are offensive.  We try to keep AA AtCs only because a majority of our regulars prefer that map and severe camping because of the size of the map becomes just annoying as jettards or people who sit on the rc and spam pulse/right click luci.  Whether or not you find it un-ethical on AA if someone has no willingness to be even passive-aggressive, let alone aggressive, and then argues with and insults the people encouraging them to leave their base they will receive short bans at my own or my administrator's discretion.

If you want to goof off and play the game in different ways that suit your wants feel free to do load up your own server.  Griefing games by jettarding, sever camping, spamming, and/or but not limited to battle grangering takes a lot of entertainment value out of it for everyone else.  My server has less than 20 bans of people that probably still want to be on the server.  My list is mostly full of old bans that people just evade and/or people who have quit the game.  I have on the otherhand hundreds and hundreds of active players that never get banned and thoroughly enjoy the server.  If we didn't ban those 20, they wouldn't enjoy it.

What is or isn't a bad thing is opinion.  There is practical reasons to battle grangering including how much the barbs can have a negative effect on the humans.  Yet its widely opinionated as a "bad thing."

You got banned today for ruining something Ssingh and I were testing.  I was fully out of line on that ban.  Then again, it's my server so can I ever really be out of line?

If you dislike me so much and you're so good at getting yourself banned, why not just find another server.  Instead of coming to mine just to whine.
