how can I translate tremulous?

Me and my classmates love to play tremulous in our school,
we just simply play it in local network, so I'd like to translate it into Chinese.
But seems if I type Chinese in the menu config, it can't be shown correctly.
So how can I translate it into Chinese?

No way to do this without any mod which can add unicode support to quake engine.
