Problems runnning server in gpp.
« on: February 13, 2011, 11:37:32 am »
Hey all, I'm trying to run Tremulous 1.2Gpp server online. I run it from tremserver.bat file, code:
Code: [Select]
tremded-gpp.exe +set dedicated 2
I have opened 30720 port from my modem's "website".
Server is good and I can join into, but there is one problem, I mean 3 problems!

1.I add myself as admin, but i have no commands, can someone give me example of WORKING admin.dat file, or a program whith what i can edit admin.dat

2.What kind of system is the .pk3 file reading, so what i should name my server's .pk3 file?

3.BIGGEST PROBLEM:Server is in LAN server list, and no one can join it, exept myself.

If you need screenshots, I will post needed shots.
I'm pretty sure that is only happening to you.
^^Yeah.
I need Tremulous when there are games like Portal 2.

Hi Henzo,

1. admin.dat is a file, editable with notepad, that tells the server who has admin, who is banned, what admin commands each admin level gets, etc.  However if you want a program to aid you in creating your admin.dat I recommend taking a look at: http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=3990.0

2. I'm not sure what you mean by this questions?  Are you trying to run a server with a modded pk3?

3. See if you can see your server on: http://master.tremulous.net/list2/ (make sure to wait on that site for around 5 min, because that's how fast it refreshes).  If you see your server on that list, then the problem is most likely that you can't run a server on the same computer that you are trying to connect to it on (I'm not sure if this still happens or not).  Also, see if one of your friends can /connect to your server directly, without using the in-game menu.  Do this by having a friend (outside your LAN) opening tremulous and typing "/connect [ip of your server]".  If that doesn't work, you're port forwarding is most likely set up wrong.  If that is the case, take a look at: http://portforward.com/

Edit: It looks like that admin.dat GUI that I linked you to was never completed.  Here is a copy of what should be a working admin.dat:

Code: [Select]
[level]
level   = 0
flags   = listplayers admintest adminhelp time
name    = ^4Unknown Player

[level]

Does it appear on: http://master.tremulous.net/list2/?  After waiting for the page to reload (around 10 min or so, maybe 5?)

Ok, then make sure that you port forwarded correctly.

Hmmm, port... I think i have opened it, but PortForward says it's not open...

Ok, I have found one good manual for port opening, and good program. So I'll try to open the port, and post more info later.  :turret:

You have a startup parameter to bind the ip to something, and that ip isn't available. I would suggest starting it without that or trying an ip on your lan network.

Dude, that ip what i tried, is my own ip, my router's, my home's etcetc...

Have you tried an ip in the 192.168 block? I'm having trouble understanding your posts, so sorry if I seem like I ask the same questions over and over again.  Remove that line and use a port checker to see if it's working.
