Hey guys!
It's me again STOP throwing vegetables at me!

Just a little idea.

We have light armour in s1. right?
We get battlesuits lateron. right?
what happened to normal armour?

Mebbe we should add it this way:

S1: light armour.

S2: Armour (Light armour but cranked up a little.)

S3: Battlesuit.

Hoorayy! allright start yelling at me already! I KNOW!! everyone hates me!  :P                     :tyrant:

wat would be cool at like s2 or some thing, is camo amor. it wouldnt give any extra armor points but would make the user invisible with a slight glare ( like halo style ative camo ) they woundnt come up on the alien radar nor would alien defences attack them.

Yeah, but it should cost more and restrain manouverability (can only jump twice, sprinting shorter)
It should improve the chaingun aim though, about halfway from no armour to BSuit.

I want hazard armor. It would protect from tubes and hives, but wouldn't protect from anything else, so you are basicly naked to aliens.

Also known as "kamikaze alien base rush armour" :D

I think gameplay is balanced as well as it is now... except that I miss a splash-effect barb for some alien class. No need of more armour imho

How about a crazy weapon mod, which just has every crazy update we can think of, and if it's unbalanced, who cares it's cool.

And when we want to have some balanced gameplay again we can go to a normal server.

I do get the feeling that some of these "improvements", even if they were balanced, would make the teams feel unbalanced in "coolness".
Actually this doesn't really apply to the medium/normal armour idea.

Wow, if anything aliens need armor....They need to evolve thick carapaces that can only be penetrated by an advanced construction kit.  Oh yeah, and they are poisonous...with barbs....and force fields....and regeneration capabilites...and they can be detonated for a million hp to all humans nearby.  That would definetly improve balance issues....arghh

I like this, but i think they should still show up on the alien radar. If anything they should be completely invisible but not show up on the radar, because the cloak in halo is pretty crappy.

I think ill play halo...

Cloak should be a "pack" item, not an add-on to armour, though. Anyway, I think a cloak would be great: Halo-style invisibility (maybe a bit more invisible than that), and you don't show up on alien radar. To balance it, the cloak could only be activated in 30-second bursts and takes just as long to recharge, and you obviously lose all stealth abilities while waiting for it to recharge. Also, the cloak would deactivate temporarily the instant you start taking damage or shooting, re-activating 2 seconds after the damage-taking or shooting has ceased.

Think about it: it'd give humans a chance to survive when leaving the base. It would give them an incentive to leave, but still wouldn't be powerful enough to be abused. And it would make aliens have to protect their base a little more.

Oh, and it'd be s2 and 200 creds or so.

I think the reason noone's open to such suggestions is because, at the moment, Tremulous is very well balanced. Everyone's loathe to throw something new in there that would ruin this balance. But for the game to continue to be interesting, these imbalances NEED to be thrown in there and then evened out. I'm not saying the cloak has to be put in the game, but please devs, go nuts and add lots of new evos and upgrades/weapons: diversity and selection is what'll make this game go from great to OMGWTFAMAZING. And, if it completely throws off the balance of the game, there'll be more than enough suggestions here about how to balance it.

Edit: alternately, maybe you'd show up on radar only when moving?

Why Even Call it Light Armour when there realy isn't any other if you think about it a b-suit is a 'suit' not just armour

Let me get this straight

You think we should have a new armour type, not for any balance reasons, or through any sort of game mechanical logical thought processes, but simply because one armour type is called "light" and one a "battlesuit".

I like the idea of the cloak, very much... It makes the humans to leave the base in stage 2 or gives the opportunity for a builder to leave a nearly destroyed base...  And i think its still balanced...

But i have an idea to camo armor: camo armor should look like a very thin black suit covering all of the humans body... It should make the user nearly or completely invisivle, WHEN not moving, shooting... It should also cease function when the user is damaged... Like the cloak, but it makes you invisible when you are standing or crouching still... The user wouldnt be able to buy jetpacks nor battery packs nor helmet... The armour wouldnt function as armour leaving the human completely "naked"

OPTIONAL:
It would have its own build-in weapon, a hunter-killer rifle... The hunter-killer rifle would be a modified mass-driver, which would deal triple damage when shooting while cloaked, and its shot should have slight poisoning capabilities, because after the hit it is slowly desintegrates the body of the target for a few secs...  This would triple the damage of the first attack, and when the user is revealed because of the attack,it would function like a normal mass-driver... Of course the user wont be able to buy any other weapon... Because the items weaknesses it would give the wearer a slight bonus to movement speed... (120% movement speed when wearing the suit)...
Optional 2: it would change the users blaster to a solid-slug pistol, which shoots with the damage of the rifle, and at the firing rate of the lasgun, to give a better help to the user when he/she runs out of mass-driver ammo.

This suit should have the cost of 400 and the humans could buy it on stage 2...

On the other hand the aliens could have the other pair of the "camo stuff"

The Stalker... The Stalker should have the same stealth abilities of the camo "armor"... It would have maybe 150 hps and would look like a humanoid creeper or an insect... It would have a fast claw attack with moderate damage... It would also be able to shoot poisonous, movement speed reducing spit, which has medium range OR it would have the abilty to use the gas attack ability of the adv. basilisk... And finally it would have a fast movement speed, a bit slower that the dretch, and slow speed when wallwalking... I imagine it as a hit-and-run creature, which hides invisible until a lone or small group of humans get close... It uses its very fast movement speed to ambush and charge the humans... Spits or attacks them with gas to make them more vulnerable and then tears them into pieces with its claws... Before anyone could think about what happened it outruns the humans and hides somewhere to regenerate...

I think the camo and the stalker are a good pair, and they would bring some "sneaky" feeling and tactics into the game... My opinion is that they balance each other but i am not sure about that so if you have opinion or idea about it share it plz, but if you say it sux please explain it why!

I thnk the main point of th thread was not to say we NEED another armor (how do you spell that?), but it was mainly asking why the only armor is called "light armor".

And the poll is missing "Yes" and "No".

and ppl say my posts are stupid. i deserve an apollagy

any how why call it light armour if its the only armour

the cloaking idea is great but there needs to be limits on it like after moving or shooting or getting shot, it has a timed delay like two or three seconds and when in the enemy base the delay is increased

An interesting thought. I don't like the 'virtually invisible' idea.. nor the 'defence don't attack' idea.. what I do find interesting is the 'can't be seen on alien radar' idea. Maybe something that could cost stamina. Hmmm..
