Burst Fire binds.
« on: February 28, 2011, 12:45:39 am »
Hey guys, I made a set of binds for useful MOUSE2 buttons on humans, since its just wasted with them. Would you want them? You need /delay though.

here:
Code: [Select]
alias burst "+attack; delay 400 -attack"
alias burstl "+attack; delay 800 -attack"
alias burstp "+attack; delay 500 -attack"
alias acc "+movedown; +attack; delay 600 -attack; delay 600 -movedown"
alias charge "+attack; delay 1400 -attack"

//weapon
seta m1k1 "play sound/misc/menu3;sell weapons;sell upgrades;buy ackit; buy ckit;itemact ackit;buy helmet;buy larmour;itemact ckit; bind MOUSE2 +button5; echo ^1Construction Kit;vstr menu0"
seta m1k2 "play sound/misc/menu3;sell weapons;sell upgrades;buy rifle;buy helmet;buy larmour; itemact rifle; bind MOUSE2 burst; echo ^1Rifle;vstr menu0"
seta m1k3 "play sound/misc/menu3;sell weapons;sell upgrades;buy helmet;buy larmour;buy psaw;itemact psaw; bind MOUSE2 acc; echo ^1Pain Saw;vstr menu0"
seta m1k4 "play sound/misc/menu3;sell weapons;sell upgrades;buy helmet;buy larmour;buy shotgun;itemact shotgun; bind MOUSE2 +button5; echo ^1Shotgun;vstr menu0"
seta m1k5 "play sound/misc/menu3;sell weapons;sell upgrades;buy helmet;buy larmour;buy lgun;itemact lgun;buy battpack; bind MOUSE2 burstl; echo ^1Las Gun;vstr menu0"
seta m1k6 "play sound/misc/menu3;sell weapons;sell upgrades;buy helmet;buy larmour;buy mdriver;itemact mdriver;buy battpack; bind MOUSE2 +button5; echo ^1Mass Driver;vstr menu0"
seta m1k7 "play sound/misc/menu3;sell weapons;sell upgrades;buy helmet;buy larmour;buy chaingun;itemact chaingun; bind MOUSE2 acc; echo ^1Chaingun;vstr menu0"
seta m1k8 "play sound/misc/menu3;sell weapons;sell upgrades;buy helmet;buy larmour;buy prifle;itemact prifle;buy battpack; bind MOUSE2 burstp; echo ^1Pulse Rifle;vstr menu0"
seta m1k9 "play sound/misc/menu3;sell weapons;sell upgrades;buy helmet;buy larmour;buy flamer;itemact flamer; bind MOUSE2 +button5; echo ^1Flamethower;vstr menu0"
seta m1k0 "play sound/misc/menu3;sell weapons;sell upgrades;buy helmet;buy larmour;buy lcannon;itemact lcannon;buy battpack; bind MOUSE2 charge; echo ^1Lucifer Cannon;vstr menu0"
seta m1k- "play sound/misc/menu3;sell battpack;sell bsuit;buy helmet;buy larmour;buy jetpack;echo ^1Jetpack;vstr menu0"
seta m1k= "play sound/misc/menu3;sell larmour; sell helmet; sell battpack; sell jetpack; buy bsuit;echo ^1Battle Suit;vstr menu0"

These were modified from Volt's Chatmenu binds. So just switch them with these.

Rifle - 5 shot burst for killing dretchs
Psaw - Crouch and saw for structures**
Las - 4 shot burst for accuracy
Chaingun - Crouch and fire**
Pulse - 5 Shot burst
Luci - Charge a half powered shot

THESE CAN BE CHANGED BY YOU, BUT IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A SUGGESTION FOR BETTER USES, POST THEM HERE.

PANDA MAN IS THE CREATOR OF THE BINDS, I MERELY MADE MY OWN FROM HIS IDEA. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION.
Love you panda <3

You don't need to ask permission to post your binds. If you want to share them, post them in here. If not, I can delete the topic.

Well, there's no reason in posting them if they're gonna get bad mouthed.

There would be absolutely no point posting ONLY IF not a single person who reads this topic will use them. Since you can't know that for sure, you could just post them and ignore any flames if there are any...

Isn't /delay Tremfusion command?
Every single post of me 2012 and below must be left ignored. That wasn't me. That must've been some retarded kid.

It is now part of Tremulous. So those binds will work in  1.2 GPP. Also works on SEGFAULT!

at the risk of sounding flamy, do you really need these kinds of binds?  what happened to "personal skill"

eh, i guess it's easier having the machine handle it.  personally, i'd rather learn the game and get better than having it done automatically for me.

I'm sorry, but it's the difference between holding down the fire button for a second, or clicking a button once.

the possibility of human error.  eliminating this takes the skill from the game.

it's like training wheels that dont actually train you.  or to put it differently, a crutch.

Yea, totally. Don't use them, then, when you are trying to dodge me with a dretch, I will rape you with my 5 shot burst, because I have more ability to aim. And as such, I am more accurate. I'm just making use of the MOUSE2 on humans. There is a WHOPPING 2 weapons that use it including the ckit that use it.

I don't find killing dretches particularly hard, probably the easiest thing to do as humans in 1.2.

Well, /delay ain't working here (gpp on top of Tremfusion), but I like the idea. Would be a neat trick to design a binding for maximum luci shot with no overload, alas you should rather not use it in a crowd of your own teammates… Could also be useful for various timings of rant and goon charges.

Too bad it doesn't work for me, so I can't play around with it :(
I have retired from Tremulous. Definetely. If you play a game just because it has become a habit, but u'r only feeling like a kindergarten teacher - well, maybe I am just getting too old (hell, I was a teenager when DukeNukem3D was *new*) - it's probably not a bad idea to just let it be. And I do.

Don't take this personally. Have fun, guys.

If you use Segfault it works, which I mentioned up in the first post.

feel free.  it's not like it's cheating or anything.

i just find it saddening that people are so under-confident in their burst fire abilities that they feel the need to make binds.  as meisseli said, you're talking about killing dretches here, not the hardest thing to do ingame.

I think you're overreacting here. There are plenty of games with burst fire modes, while I do have some qualms about certain uses of /delay, this is not one of them.

Like the 180 bind? I haven't figured that out yet. What would there be a problem with?

I think making a 180 bind has to do with setting m_yaw (might be m_pitch) and then +moveleft, wait, -moveleft (this will require using vstr, but should not require delay).

Then what would you be talking about things you don't agree with? Or the ones you have "qualms" with.

/delay could be (has been?) used to always fire a luci at maximum charge, you press a button and it releases at the optimal firing time (of course, you can always fire prematurely using a left click). The same thing can be done with pounce.

Ehh... I preferr not to use them. I just like to manage how many shots i take better. Sometimes I may want to fire 3-5 shots, but other times I may need to fire 6-7+. Just feels like I have more control doing it manually.

Well, it's bound to your MOUSE2 key, so when you DO feel like taking 5 shots, it would be helpful to have it. That's why I made them

You mean this nifty thing that I had to "code" is taking skill, but the dodge bind in 1.2 isn't. K.
