What amuses me is how he thinks light armor is equal to 10 hitpoints.
Forgive me for not being able to accurately balance my idea, it's kind of hard when it's only in your head and isn't being playtested in the game. Besides, armour doesn't protect the head so you're still at 4hp if a dretch bites you there, which isn't too hard. Maybe 40 hp then? Any more than that and it's just a basi.
Anyway, the idea is to give the free units, excluding builders, a bit more defense/hp so they can survive a little longer. And Oz, good point, didn't think of that >_> Now I'm not too sure how a free armour system would work, since it'd be tough finding a plausible way to prevent other weapons being used with it. But armour seems like the best way to do it, since improving the rifle itself would cause bigger issues imo (I mean, it's already 2 or 3 bullet kill on dretches, 1 or 2 bullet would be pretty cheap)
Hmm... I mean, you could change light armour's name to "medium armour" and then in s3 change the Rifle to "Rifle + light armour" (weaker than current light armour), but these changes would make people stay rifle/dretch to earn creds instead of taking a risk and buying one of the cheaper weps/evos first. Only alternative I'd thought of was to have late joiners get a few free creds/EP when they join, but I'm guessing there would be easy ways to abuse that.
lol, I like how the entire direction of this post went from "how my idea should be tweaked" to "my idea would be hard to implement" to "my idea sucks" to "other ideas". o_O I do that sometimes.
