Why seven days? What if they don't read and follow the link (which a lot are bound to do) and don't learn? Another seven days after that? I would think that a day at most would be fair, if mods are around each time. Consider some of the players who suck at the attack/defend strategy, who've also become superb at building strategically just by practicing, albeit sucking a lot in the process.

I agree - and I probably shouldn't have included that second part as it is a whole different feedback topic. Point being - what do you guys think about a link to a build tutorial in the 'denybuild' box that comes up when you are denybuilded?
Can denybuild/mute/etc be tied into the same system as bans lasting for multiple days?
Building tutorials are something that are rather hard to do, because I find that some of the most effective bases are largely conceptual. The four door on Niveus, for example. If we could get a list of base locations, though, we could put together a string of videos on YouTube showing players how to build the most basic of bases on each default map for S1. We'd have to cover every common expo as well as rebuilding and fortifying the main. I think it would be best to discourage "experimentation" and stick to presenting a "black and white" "this is how you do it" type guide catering to absolute newbs. The last thing that we would want is horrible builders saying "well the Official Tremulous Builder's Handbook told me to experiment!"
If a video guide(s) were to be made, narration would be a must. It's more effective to have a voice along with the video rather than plain text. Also, perhaps the formation of the Tremulous Builder's Guild would be in order. Just a bunch of folks who are dedicated to helping newbie builders and keeping the guide(s) relevant?
And if it wasn't obvious, this idea has my complete support; anything I can do to help get it off the ground.
