^that was not called for.

the eletric one sux you just flipped it.

the jetpak one floating around is better, how ever why don't you increase the box for it so it doesn't clip the sides off

Are you stupid?
It's meant to be an emoticon, so it's the size of an emoticon.

All the emoticons are 15x15, and it'd be out of place if it was bigger.
The mara one is indeed simply flipped, but it still looks far better than the other one, yes?

That and the only extra thing dooable to it would be to make a center spike, and as stated before I'm no pixel artist.

A note: I couldn't work out a way to do the reactor. :<

Dude.  Everyone was thinking it.

Given the size and design constraints, I think the looks great.  So what if he just flipped the electric bit?  It works.

I like the second jetpack a little better, but they're both good.

How unnecessarily negative.

I think the eleCtric one is good like that, the only thing I think would beat that one would be if instead of flipping the entire image horizontally, part of the zappy thing should be flipped vertically. Hard to explain what I mean, I'll make it myself when I have the time.

I've got a couple suggestions for the jetpack ones, though. The jetpack_2 one it's really what a jetpack looks like when it's moving, it should be more like jetpack.gif exept it changes direction when it hits the top or bottom of the image. (so that in the end it's hovering up and down)

Also, we need a jetpack one where the jetpack is hovering up and down (by a couple pixels) in the centre of the image, then the blue jets disappear and it falls (at about jetpack.gif speed) off the bottom of the image. Would be great to summarize the "kill reactor to eliminate jetpacks" principle ^^

Edit: made a quick attempt at my envisionment of the marauder zap:
http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/7305/marauderhe0.gif

Sadly, my gif animation program only does transparency by the colour, not the pixel, so I can't make it transparent around the edges. Someone else'll have to do that. Also, anyone know of a good free gif animator? I'm using microsoft gif animator, which leaves much to be desired.

(oh, and alternately I might add a 1 second frame of no zap at all, to immitate how the marauder actually zaps)

The GIMP. It's a good free image manipulation program. It does everything .. almost. ;)
(Animate gifs by putting each frame in its own layer and saving as a GIF file! :))

omg, Gimp does that?? lmao, never even knew.

wait, I have Photoshop Elements 2.0. (my dad got it free with a printer ^^) I'm guessing it could do the same? Since, well, in my experience, Gimp doesn't do MORE than photoshop :P

Yeah, I've toyed with Gimp before, but switched over to photoshop because it's hard to get used to all the windows Gimp makes. If there's a way to dock all 3 windows (brush window, layer window and image window) into one, like it is in photoshop, I'll use both.

Edit: yep, elements can do animated gifs. Was really easy to google o_O

Edit2: agh, it doesn't let you choose the individual delay after each frame. Does Gimp allow that?

Not individual, no. >:{
You can "dock" all 3 panels into one window, the main toolbox window, but the result is not pretty -- it ends up with the toolbox having a tabbed section under it. You just have to destroy the individual windows and click "ADD DIALOG" or whatever. I'm using 2.3.* though, the dev version.

gif animator is a great program, i don't know where to get it though i stole mine... i've had it since i finished school... use microsoft paint to get the pixel look photo shop tends to blur things...

sorry about being negative before but you don't need to be pix artist to make it look good.

for the record im a graphic designer not a multimedia designer... there is a BIG difference... i'll have a shot at them now...

If you like the look of photoshop you could try GIMPShop.

Of course if you already have PS you might as well use it.

Or you could just try to get a professional application, instead of smelly GIMP software. M$Paint > GIMP

If you are used to photoshop try http://www.gimpshop.com/, It's just GIMP but with photoshop menus and everything is in a single window (buggy though).

To animate gifs, try Adobe Image Ready. Which SHOULD come with photoshop already.
