Tremulous International Summer Classic
« on: June 11, 2012, 05:33:15 am »

TREMULOUS INTERNATIONAL SUMMER CLASSIC

TREMULOUS is all but DEAD.  Its allies all but GONE.  The developers... chilling in the Cayman Islands.  The last REMNANT of TREMULOUS struggles desperately for SURVIVAL.  But in the DARKNESS, in the gloom of DECAY, there is a glimmer of HOPE. One last tournament will DETERMINE the FATE of the GALAXY.

The TREMULOUS INTERNATIONAL SUMMER CLASSIC promises to be the most exciting and competitive event to hit the GAME since the AGE of the HOVEL.  ONCE AGAIN, as in the days of OLD, clans, teams, and groups from AROUND the GALAXY will come together in an EPIC BATTLE to save the FUTURE of TREMULOUS.

BRAGGING RIGHTS are at stake for what promises to be the most intense TOURNAMENT the game has ever seen (ever since last time). With FLEXIBLE rules and procedures that will allow players ACROSS the GALAXY to compete with each other on a level playing field for the FIRST time in the game's HISTORY, the TREMULOUS INTERNATIONAL SUMMER CLASSIC is an experience not to be missed. A 100 US dollar GRAND PRIZE will be awarded to the winning TEAM (NoS).

All MATCHES will take place in the traditional VERSION of the GAME where teams of 4 or 5 will BATTLE each other on classic Tremulous maps, paving the way for a balanced, competitive, and exciting TOURNAMENT. Participants should SHARE their input on the TOURNAMENT RULES.

FOR PRIDE. FOR COUNTRY. FOR TREMULOUS.  FOR HOVEL.

Questions:
-What server?
-If not an existent one:
-Where's the location of the server? (Most 'evenly spread' ping is probably russia, also gives those indians, koreans, japanese etc. to have a ping lower than 150 on a server but people love complaining that 200+ping is unplayable even with unlagged...   :-[)
-What time(s)?
-Unlagged/"lagged"? (dev/humancontroller hates that word it seems)
-Pure/unpure? (Can cause problems if unpure)
-Type of server (lakitu7's, snoks, aaqvm (actually thats highly unlikely), tremfusion classic...)
-Maps? (defaults(probably exclude uncreation from its easily-noticable visual bugs and unbalanced) or custom list/&rotation?)

Btw the character positions on the picture are scaled really weird... oh well

This looks really well done, great job your_face! Looking forward to signing up Xenocide and retaining our world #1 ranking.

To the man above, most of those questions are answered on the tournament website and the ones that are not seem obvious.
ok. when the hell did fuckin world war 3 start?

to be honest, I don't know how this will turn out, but it would be great if the oldies dusted off trem to play for one last time. 8)

I'm trying to get as many Euro clans to participate but some do not like unlagged because of the whole big hitbox but i'll try to persuade them.

I don't like gpp as much, but you know there are stubburn people on gpp as well who don't want to go to the old vintage trem.

They don't count so it's okay.

I support this idea Facey, but just so you know, still no luck with teh ol' 1.1. I'm not gonna be available if it's not going to be on GPP. "That's just the way it is!"

There is still a greater number of 1.1 players you know. Just more scattered over more servers. Apparently the most popular servers in 1.1 is [][][]AA and "W", probably because AA is apparently the 'best' vanilla gameplay server and 'W' has those powerup stuff with newbie bonuses.. and humans get to camp as much as they want...

For gpp, the only popular servers i can think of is Unlimited CZ, US official and probably [or not] Nalf's mod server. But the problem with gpp, they tend to only have 2 servers with 'standard games' running at max with like the other servers empty, but on 1.1, there is more players but significantly more servers with mods and people tend to be distributed throughout more. If we count all those never-used empty servers like "Tremulous 1.1.0 Server" spams and those using the old original 1.1 qvm (has no unlagged) then trem 1.1 would definately be more 'fun' with its variety of

Fuck that explaination, too long.

Simply is that 1.1 has more players and therefore is a better choice.

Just so you know, there's people that have been playing trem for a lot of years but have shitty internet connection. And lagged and +100 ping gets unplayable.

Anyways I'm in and recruiting!

Rules state it will be unlagged. Also, i still have shit internet [the only difference between *then* and *now* is quota size, it was 500 mb on peak and off peak, now its 50 gb on/off], some other people in perth can get as low as 50 ping to aussie assault while i get 70-100 :/

I think the idea is great; been a while since anyone has been able to get many clans together for something.  Hope it works out.

If this continues to decrease in a linear fashion if you add a line of best fit starting from 1500 days ago, trem would be dead by then.

If there is still sufficient interest, we can host a tournament in Unvanquished. I can say for certain Pk and GT will participate. It will be organized by the same people who brought you the GPP Open Summer tournament.
