Please Help

i am currently running on linux ubuntu,  the game runs and all but when i join a server the game runs really slow and i mean slow. i don't know what could be causing this but if anybody has any ideas on what it might be, feel free to post your suggestions thank you!!!

Do you have good graphics drivers?  I remember sometimes Linux doesn't install 3D accelerated drivers, so check to see if your video card manufacturer (usually ATI or nVidia, if not, maybe Intel) has some drivers for you.
