What Constitutes A Dead Game?
« on: December 05, 2012, 08:37:15 pm »
There have been no shortage of threads asking or proclaiming whether Tremulous is dead. What I want to know is, at what point can we consider it dead?

The development team, at least those of them that have not left completely, is not active. Those that are active exist to maintain the website, master, and official servers. From what I understand, sometimes there are bug fixes committed, but a bugfixed game does not a 1.2 make.

The player count has substantially dropped, there are currently 57 players in 1.1 and 24 players in GPP (17 of which are on the R Unlimited server).

Nothing that fades out ever has an official death, but I think we're clinging to a corpse here. I don't think 1.2 is coming out, and nobody is working toward making that happen.

It's almost like you need a "GAME OVER" message before you can stop playing.

I'm sad that there aren't as many players nowadays but that doesn't mean there aren't still people to have enjoyable games with. You can declare Tremulous dead if it makes you feel better but I will personally continue to play whenever it's fun to do so and not play on the days between.
