Demos/recording related questions
« on: August 18, 2006, 06:01:49 am »
I've been toying around with the idea of making some small Tremulous videos, but I'm getting kind of frustrated. The built-in \video command gives absolutely wonderful output, but getting visually interesting output is difficult. In demo mode, most buttons dump you back to the main menu, which is kind of frustrating.

So, can you fly around as a spectator through a demo*? Can you pause demo playback? Can you speed it up? The last time I did anything like this I was working with the W:ET engine, which is part of the Quake3 family, and it can do all those things- am I just missing something? Or are these features that don't exist (yet)?

If anyone has any links to documentation, I'd be grateful.

*I understand that if I went into another room, even if there were players there, nothing would show up, but that doesn't matter so much. I'd just like extra camera angles :).

Leaving the perspective of the player who made the demo is not possible, compare it to a movie...

Speeding up or slowing down... iirc there was a way to do it in w:et, but I am not sure if it was/is a Q3 feature or one of w:et.

For a config especially tailored for demorecording and -playback.
Thanks to Jex, who supplied me with this config.
