q2 - Gloom
« on: September 22, 2013, 08:33:31 am »
Does anyone feel the need to have a game for nostalgia's sake?

There's one server up it seems, and I have 380 ping there.
94.237.72.100:27910

Time for the pickup game is to be discussed.

To get the game, you need to get Quake 2 first since gloom isn't a standalone mod, but you can get Quake II Starter's kit, it's like a demo of some kind.
http://q2s.tastyspleen.net/

After installing that, You'll need to get gloom. PlanetGloom's download links appear to have diminished so ModDB seems to be the place to get it.

In the quake console, do /connect 94.237.72.100:27910 and have a tinkle around with the controls.

Gameplay is very much different to tremulous' but follows the same RTS element: destroy all spawns and enemy players.
