Warnings in tutorial mode

It would be nice if tutorial mode would have warnings (in red) when you use granger or construction kit. It could say something like "Don't build unless you know what your doing" or "Building should be done by experienced players".

How to evolve and how to sell the ckit could also be in red.

I completely agree with what you're trying to help prevent, but that method won't really help imo.

Reading manual and spectating some builders help a lot. And you prolly want to test out what u can do with ckit anyway, i bet you did try it out when starting tremulous too.
But public games sucks, nice to return to base from hunting trip and see a base filled with teles (like today)  :x

Why wouldn't the metod work? People ignore manuals but tutorial mode is on automaticly. Even lazy people want to learn and follow instructions written in red, right?

1. They're very vague. What's the definition of "knowing what you're doing"? They won't know that, they'll figure they KNOW that tubes must be placed in open areas.
2. Personally, I wouldn't want a little red warning telling me what I should and should not do.
3. The crap builders that do what they're told aren't the problem. It's the ones who build silently and ignore people who tell them to stop who are the problem. Those people won't be held back just because a message in red font said it's a bad idea.

This warnings helps of cource only against real noobs, those who yet don't know things like how to evolve (in other words those who still needs tutorial mode). I do belive these people know that they don't know what they are doing. Nothing helps against stubborn people, but I do belive they are in minority.

I'm not talking about a bright red color that makes your eyes hurt. Just something a little bit more red than that white/grey color that the tutorial mode uses normally. And people do turn of tutorial mode when they know what they are doing and won't then have to look at the warning anymore.

I belive the problem is that many noobs won't read the chat because they are busy playing and don't belive anyone is talking to them. The text in tutorial mode is on the screen all time and they will read that eventually. It's also a question of authority. If the hint is in the tutorial its a part of the game and something the developers put there (or at least aproved of). That's worth more than some tip from another player you don't know.

That's not really the same thing as I sugested. I agree with Kevlarman on why your idea won't work. Better then just have a link to the manual on the net or put the whole manual in pdf format within the game and link to that.

Your right. I never noticed that, since I've never needed to do anything in the tremulous folder (I'm using Linux). A link to that from within the game then, if it's posible to do that without to much complications.
