Getting stuck
« on: August 21, 2006, 01:52:38 am »
So i am running a trem server off my shitty old P2 350mhz , it uses about 50% of cpu when 8 peoiple are playing but every minute or 2 it will have these god awful lag spikes where I just cant move, but other people get them as well, and I am on the same network as the server. when the server is empty and i'm running around by myself it doesnt happen. any way to fix it?

the cpu doesnt really go up when they happen I dont think. which is also quite strange. renicing the process didnt do a lot of good either. do i have to get a new server?lol

+how the hell am i supposed to log in as admin and that, i cant like find any list of the commands anywhere

First off, please give us more information!
We need at least to know what OS you are running, we also need to know which process spikes when the lag occures.

As for the Admin-part, you might want to read up on 'rcon' for starters.

I have a feeling your server doesnt have tjw...even good servers will spike without it, try installing it.

Black, please don't lead him on .)

TJW's mod is not a cure for server-spikes, especially not on a 350, when you don't know anything about the processes running when the spikes occur.

Your specs.. are pretty low on the server...
On the same network = lan?.. are all of your users on the lan?
If not what kind of connection do they have.
How is your memory? I imagine if its not the CPU maxing, or the network lagging because other users are sucking the resources, then it is probably that you don't have enough memory.
