Beta One Released!
That's right! A fully working beta has been released.
Download it here: http://mwaness.com/files/TremData/map-cannon_b1.pk3
To test it, join aliens and spawn as a dretch. You'll drop down a hole then get fired across the test range.
If you spawn as a granger, you will get stuck.
To see the mechanism, join humans.
To see it in action, play with a friend!
For this beta, the mechanism is exposed, so you can see exactly how it works.

Its nice people have stopped building/suggesting useful things  (or trying to anyway) and getting flammed at about it, and have instead started building/suggeesting completely useless things.

Btw.. screw PONY!!1! cannons.. PONY!!1! bombs is the way to go!

Dretch cannons should be a buildable structure for aliens available from s1, and tyrant cannons should become available in s3. Tremulous is incomplete and broken without them.

Wow... that was awesome... (and I did the cannon thing ON AND ON AND ON...) (I also went up to the hole and found the egg there, and the bg as white. VERY SMART :D)
the only problem I saw is that when I went flying (WHEEEEEEEE), the "wind fly" or whatever its called sound didn't work (It said itself)

Really long firing range, for final release have it part of a big FUN room for alien, human can spec :D Have race tracks gamma jumps slides cool triggers etc etc

I havent actually tried it (wasps in the CPU :D) but this sounds great, not only for a laugh but it could also work for serious maps too. Imagine a large outdoor area like a farm where humans have to walk through the fields and aliens have the dretch cannons! The human's long range weapons would balance the aliens mobility. How about a dretch cannon you can aim?
Anyway, I'm a total n00b at mapping but... well you know.

how about a map with a load of cannons at each end, and humans in the middle doing trying to shoot them down?

Let me guess, a hole, a hollowed brush, and another one, at the bottom of the first hollowed brush, a trigger_push that forces the dretch through the second hollowed brush, then a spawn point above the hole...

You can lock it closed to be dretch only. Add a trigger_class or target_class, cant remember which it was, then make it tied to a trigger_multiple, and make it trigger a door. Only dretches could open it then. Let me guess what you used to fire, a trigger_push?

A map that has a huge valley of killer PONIES!!1! down the middle and the teams start on each side. The only way to get across the valley is by cannons.

Have a bunch of various sized cannons to assist in getting between different locations.
If you are too big, then you have to walk the long way.
And yes, why have one Big-Bertha Tyrant cannon.

how about making a human cannon o.0

humans and aliens both load into cannons at seperate ends and they fire at the same time - heading towards eachother, then there's the ''BooM!'' ''BooM!'' ''AargH!'' ''BooM!'' ''Aaaaarghaaa!!!!!'' (human dies)

Or... AcId TuBe CaNnOn!!!!!! when a human comes near it activates the acid tube cannon and it fires right at their head - then you'll get the ''Aaaargh!!!''  

OmG! so many ideas!!!

When s2 and can build on roofs, etc. there are dropping acid tubes!!
