'.rar' is another format of '.zip'

they are templates of shops in a shopping centre. feel free to texture and add your stuff in them. as they will be in the next map.

players can walk in and hid in your shop and build a base there.

inside is a map file with the shops walls, floor and roof. do what ever you want with it.

In fact rar is a completely different compression format and has nothing to do with zip.
WinRAR and 7-Zip support rar files on Windows.

If you've got a system on which you can simply type tar -xvjf and get it uncompressed, true... ;)

or 7-zip on windoze, that only leaves mac os classic, and who would wanna use that. the only annying thing is you can't abriviate .tar.bz2 like you can .tar.gz (to .tgz) to make 7-zip and friends open it in one step.

A recently infested shopping centre (like transit is a recently infested train station) sounds very tremulous-like. Imagine your local shopping centre after hoards of tyrants had rushed through it and after thousands of bullets had been sprayed in every direction. Much better than the armies of salesdroids and screaming children you normally get :D

They also have large air duct networks, long corridors and many escape routes. The larger malls have storage areas full of tall shelves, beam cranes, catwalks and what not. Plus car parks and huge piles of industrial service plant with associated cable and pipework (hey, good trem maps need pipes, right?   ).

It'd be a huge map, but since SST tremulous has been an MMOFPS...

or 7-zip on windoze, that only leaves mac os classic, and who would wanna use that. the only annying thing is you can't abriviate .tar.bz2 like you can .tar.gz (to .tgz) to make 7-zip and friends open it in one step.

WinRAR can also handle bzip gunzip and i believe it can also handle lzma unless you have it packed full of meta data from a journaling filesystem then it just corrupts the archive trying to decompress it.
