Why can't jet packs be more like this.

Jetpack

thats awsome!

EDIT/ add

this one is more manuverable and faster. and uses air compression rather than fire.

No, it doesn't use air compression.

It uses highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide.

Jetpacks of this type can only carry enough fuel for about 30 seconds or so.

Yeah, make a jetpack that is faster and disallows using your weapon... :P

I don't know what was used as fuel in this vid. But one thing is sure, it was NOT H2O2 as that would have needed an oxidizer component that would cost more as the jetpack obviously did :)
The second thing is that using H2O2 you'd get exhusts that are above 600°C and would have set that jetpack right on flames, not to mention the guy wearing it :)

It might be interesting to use the sprint key to trigger jetpack afterburner. You wouldn't be able to shoot or use items and if you hit into something, you'd get hurt. The speed might be like tyrant charge.  I think it would be useful to rush into and out of alien base so it would help to reduce camping.

wat if u made the jetpack faster but every now and then it needs a recharge by the reactor or by turning it off for so long.

The way it is now seems fine to me. Once the devs have finished the "balancing the alien team" that they keep mentioning, we might be able to consider changes to the humans, but for now the jetpack is ok, if unrealistic (I can see the how a fast take off would be realsitic, but then it would be too easy for a jetpacker to get away from aliens.).

the only big thing i use jetpacks for is to get out of basilisk holds

when a basi latches on from behind just crounch and jump and while doing that toggle jetpack and the hold will be released.. a good tip to all those people out there who get pwned too much by basi's

Jetpack usage :
- egg hunts with painsaw. How else am I gonna kill the eggs on ceiling?
- better maneuvrability : allows you to go through certains passages that you can't without or to go faster from point A to point B in some maps
- anti basilisk grab as was said. I just turn on the jetpack and press space to go up while at the same time turning to face the basilisk and shot it
- get out of trapper bonus card. Doesn't work as well as basilisk since the trapper effects lasts for the full time duration, but at least it allows you to quickly move out of the place you got stuck. Which often is in the middle of a few acid tubes so it is a good thing :)
- building things in hard/impossible to reach places
urphy's rules of combat
8 ) Teamwork is essential; it gives the enemy someone else to shoot at.
18 ) Make it too tough for the enemy to get in and you can't get out.

If the alien team consists of idiots who can't jump or climb on walls, or some fool forgets about jetpacks when making a map...

Little off topic, but a simple oxidizer for Hydrogen Peroxide is pure silver.all he had to do was take some 95%+ concentrated Hydrogen peroxide and jettison it through a silver mesh.Atleast thats what I've read.

does that actually work?.. Unless you have a stupid team goons can usually get them down, and my adv mara will keep them down.. or you can just avoid them and go around back.. They end up getting so far up though (trying to dodge aliens) they can't hit anything anyway.. I haven't really had a problem with this.
