Whats Wrong: Kicking
« on: September 02, 2006, 12:31:02 am »
It seems as if your vote kick system completely blows. It is based on a username. I come from another game where vote kicking would kick a users ID. I believe that as each user enters the game they should be assigned a specific ID number so that when they are called for a poll kick, changing their username won't cut the outcome.

There are too many total morons out there, that are smart enough to change their name. I am sick and tired of seeing this:
Quote from: "In Game Chat Area"

BlahBlah called a vote.
Noobsicle changed name to Dipsicle.
LongTimeMember: WTF?

So please, for the upcoming versions please include a way to each user being assigned a unique user id for that game, that way, when they are  up for voting out, they can't avoid being kicked.

Also there seems to be a problem with spaces in the poll kicking as well. When you try to kick a member with a space in their name, the poll is for the name and the first space, the rest gets cut off, and the result is that the user is not kicked. Once again, player ID numbers would avoid this problem.

isn't TJS's mod being put into the next version?
and if a server isn't running TJS's mod then you can assume the admin is a idiot and doesn't give a toss, so don't play there.

well there are ways to go around the name change:

1: do a clientkick. clients don't change when names are changed

2: if an admin is on the server, ask him to do a !kick # reason.

There're 2 things you can do:
1) /callvote clientkick clientnum
2) ask your admin to update his server to SVN r814 codebase and then use /callteamvote teamclientkick clientnum

Anyway, as you can see in kevlarman's link, kicks are no longer name based since SVN r807.
If my answer to your problem doesn't seem helpful, it means I won't help you until you show some effort to fix your problem yourself!
1.2.0 release's been delayed for 5:48:00 already because of stupid questions.

Telling me that doesn't help, I don't own the server.

Where do you find the client numbers

i found out the hard way that what /serverstatus returns isn't always the client number.
