Yet another engine suggestion...
« on: September 03, 2006, 12:44:50 pm »
I've read several posts/threads that mention that trem looks a bit... well... a bit Q3, one thread that wants a trem mod for halo 2, and last but not least one thread that suggested the half-life 1 engine of all things for trem 2.

I think I read some posts here about a Q3 based engine called Xreal that adds a load of graphics features (check these screenies: http://xreal.sourceforge.net/xrealwiki/ScreenShots ) but that is was also rather slow.

IIRC Tremulous is based on the IOQ3 sources, so perhaps this might be of some use: http://evolution.quakedev.com/ It's basically IOQ3 + Xreal. They advertise it's speed and it's use of 3Dnow!, SSE and altivec, etc. Whether that means it's fast enough is another matter though.

Apologies if this has already been suggested to death. I've searched but didn't find anything about the evolution engine.

There. I've n00bishly made yet another engine suggestion, plz flame me
