ping problem

Anybody knows why my ping is two times higher when I am in the game/menu than if I run a 'ping' command in _linux_ (not Tremulous') console?

I checked with two servers.

Because of different priority of ICMP?

you should link to google.com, which will redirect to your country's google based on ip range, rather than google.de
edit: and you really should have linked to wikipedia instead of google: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icmp

Ok let's plan it out. Asva, you are nub, go sit on rets, I will build, you two go feed like hell, you go pwn their asses, and everyone else camp in the hallway, roger?

Now tell my why I should do that? So I get the results that may adhere to the rules from the bible-belt? No thanks.
The redirect does not really care which domain you used, it will usually deliver the one they say it's apropriate for your country.

Anyways we have enough helping hands here that do all the dirty work for others... like looking up on wiki and such.

this is wrong in so many ways, google.com is the only domain that redirects to any others, google.de will always be german, no matter what, and google doesn't change the results based on which domain you searched from in any way (with the exception of china).

but it happens not only during the game but also in the server list menu - are the packets also so big there?

And if it is because of the ICMP priority then does it have any influece on the gameplay (after what I've read about the ICMP I don't thik it should...)
