first of all, isn't that a little dark? second, could you please not post 1600x1200 directly in the thread, it breaks the layout even at 1600x1200 (though not much), and it really breaks it for those of us who have the browser sized at 1024x768

The ambiente in some Area's should be dark. The problem could be, that someone, playing the game with low brightness, may not see very much. So if you play with normal gamme, my question here: Can you see the walls and the floor? If the answer is yes, its not too dark. And not all areas in the map will be so dark. In addition, this area will get some more small light, but not too much.

Taiyo.uk:
From there I took the mapname, yes. But it will not be the same map ;)

Its not as dark, its the gamma setting, you can tell because the reactor pretty much blends with the background.

Oh, I just looked at the screenshots on my Eizo TFT at work. It is realy a bit darker than on my nice CRT at home. So maybe I turn up the lightpower from 75 to 150. What do you think?

Hello.
I agree. This map is too dark.
Please, turn up the lightpower, or add other lights.
75 => 150, maybe.
Thanks.

I think you cannot judge a map just by its brightness. If darkness is part of the setting, an instrument to create atmosphere... why not?
Models can be seen well even in darkness. All people playing with crazy gammasettings are the first to cry about darkness. Try playing with r_gamma 1.0 like I do. The game looks nicer and after a while you wouldn't even notice the difference.

I do play with gamma 1.0 and some maps like Tremor can only be palyed at night when your eyes are adjusted to low light settings, otherwise you have to knock your gamma up just to tell the corridors apart.

And from the SSs, the map is Tremor style dark. :P

mh, tremor is quite grey but not really dark. I have played it on two different TFT's and a CRT with standard driver gammy / brightness... check brightness settings of your monitor maybe? ;)

FINALLY! I've been crying for a dang dark map! this is a really awesome idea! BTW I like the light fixtures part of the map so far. Although for a starting hummie base it looks too open.

The light's just fine.
As for the "too open" part, it will force humans to move quickly, which is good.

There is a slight difference, look at how the light is drawn on the wall.
