wait a min there is falling damage falling down from standing up and FALLING can hurt even kill you in real life, but jumping even 10 or so feet wont hurt you sometimes so do you mean FALLING damage or JUMPING damage.   *--jumping damage the damage you take when you jump from somthing to high--*

erm... you get hurt (in real life) from landing incorrectly. doesnt matter if your jumping up and down or falling off of something... unless you're too high of course.

But in-game we assume that the player always lands correctly.  So for example: after falling more than a certain minimum distance the player takes 'x' damage, then add on to that more depending on how far the drop is.  I suggest limiting the maximum damage though.

Obviously if a chracter can jump very high, it wont take any damage from that as it would have already be adapted to falling that distance. (hehe: hint hint, there might be some chracters with cool jumping abilities)

I hope this answers your question, I didnt quite understand it :/

I worry that making the damage too high would make playing annoying..
but slightly more realistic fall damage could work :)

would any of the human upgrades allow them to fall further with no damage?

the jetpack

seriously though, I dont think falling damage should/will play a large role in game play...mainly because most maps don't have huge drops and if they do the player know that they risk damage/death from it.

The humans can have like exoskeleton for making them a bit faster and jump abit higher and with it they could allso fall a bitt further befor taking damage

argh, I feel like timbo, but I believe it would be best to first put out a nice stable version, and then work on ideas like that.

and as I said before, I doubt that falling damage will be a big issue and if you want to get to a high location theres always the jetpack.  Making an entire nother model just so people can run faster doesnt seem to me to be a good use of time at this time.

Maybe when I get bored in the next couple days I'll make one though :P Although thats getting quite close to gloom (xt) and we don't really want to do that  :-?
