I fly for Japan tomorrow
« on: September 18, 2006, 10:32:19 am »
Right I'm off to Japan for a year to teach english.

Therefore, dont be too surprised if you dont see me around much. I have no idea what my situation will be like with computers and intarweb access and obviously playing on tremulous.info may be difficult (i.e. impossible because of ping) and I doubt other european servers will be much better.

I will try to hang around, but perhaps will have to find some new servers to play on...

Megabite - anyway my admin access on .info could let me join with a highping in a similar way to the reserved slots when the server is full?

Anyway - gg everyone. I'll be back....

WOW.. you're going to have to stay in touch.. I've always wondered how that stuff works out for people.. If I was able to.. i'd be doing that myself. Hope it works out good.. i've heard horror stories and success stories, but never from a reliable source.

YOU! STOP! JET PROGRAM PERSON TEACH ME NOW! :P

I'm gunning to get into the JET program (which I suspect is what he's going on) that lets people fly to Japan to teach English for a year (or more!) there under the auspices of the Japanese government. *prays like mad*

Anyhoo, you can try playing on the Hong Kong server Popsky, where you should be getting more than adequate ping (I play there too) or  else Beer Garden. Good luck with trem.info or any of the other servers though.

Also, KAT-TUN is the way to go.
TOP DRETCHING THE ENGINEER!!!! =(
And fer christsake, DON'T BUILD IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE!

I'm doing NOVA actually - www.teachinjapan.com

Easier to get on than jet and (more importantly for me) they recruit all year round rather than once a year.

That's good and all, but... Why is this in General discussion? This is more of a personal goodbye than a Tremulous-related thread... (don't tell me "I won't be playing Tremulous" is related to Trem)

Anyway, that sounds pretty cool. What age group do they make you teach? Is it, like, little kids, highschoolers, or adults? If adults, what kind? Privileged, poorer, or just plain hobos?

Its here because its related to tremulous because I wont be playing tremulous is related to Trem.  8)

Seriously though its because the people that I want to know about this are far more likely to read it here than anywhere else. Besides, at least its more interesting than all of the oh noes the game is unbalanced lets have this thoughtless suggestion implemented threads.

Nova do private lessons to anyone that wants them, so its anything between 2 year olds and 90 year olds. (obviously the lesson plans vary somewhat for different age groups!). So yeah its people from all walks of life that want to learn english.

I will once I get an internet connection. Until then the Jury will just have to decide by itself without my objecting guidance.

lol, all good points. Personally, I've never opened up the Off-Topic forum.

I will attempt at being the 2nd in command of Objections. No guarantees on quality though, my objection skills need refining.

I think Henners just said "problems with intarweb" and "japan" in same sentence *GASP*
No, I don't know anything about that, but I'm sure you'll be able to find some goodly intarnet cafe's and the sort, if you're in a more-densely-populated area.
Exactly where are you flying to in Japan for curiosity.
