awesome base in Karith

hey, I found out this awesome place for aliens (or maybe humans, but less effective) in Karith.
I figured this place out when we were getting pwned by humans and they were destroying our base. I ran away as a granger and this adv marauder followed me, sadly, I don't know what happened to that brave little marauder...  :cry:
anyways, i asked my fellow players where i should build. I asked if in the elevator room, but too obvious. Then, I went up the ceiling near the elevator room and outside. You know, where the jetpacks go and stay?
Anyways, I found a little spot there and built om, eggs, and some acid tubes right front of the door. It's not that good when people go with jetpacks, or if they just shoot from the bottom, but it won't be effective by painsaws and they won't really be able to find the base easily (but I just told all of you about this... OH NO!)

here are two of the demos: the first one is me building the base in a differnt server after i figured it out and the second one is me showing the base, the first time i built the base.

(and yes, I'm using freewebs. Even though the website hosting sucks, the file hosting is pretty good  :P )

PS on the first one, I went to a server with only one player, and i killed him four or five times to become S2 and then tried to put base, but this other alien put bases right beside the human base so i deconned them and put them back in my new base. Also, I killed a guy with a granger :P all those stuff are going to be in the first one. Second one is just me as a basilisk moving around.

It really isn't as good as you think and has been known for a long time. Humans have ranged weapons and in s3 the luci has enough splash to damage anything you build up there from below. Aliens spawn up there and get caught in the spam coming their way. Once again, a good base depends on a team that knows how to defend and a competent builder. Building high is not special and in most occurences even bad.

That's not weird, I could make a thread on all the weird bases I've made. The stairway in Transit, the mountainside and the platform outside alien base in Karith, on top of the pipes and inside the vents in Arachnid... etc. etc.

I've even won a couple times, but I didn't play to win.

Lol. fun. D'you know what i just did today? Map: UTCS Aliens s3, Us, s3, etc. I was builder, repairing base. Then, (don't ask me why) I decided to run out. I was probably gonna get mauled by a tyrant. But, who cares. I looked round the corner. (low loop near human base.) No tyrant! :eek: But a GRANGER! :eek: :eek: :eek: Then i switched to blaster and pelted the granger with blasts as the granger spat back at me and tried to swipe.
OMG its a BUILDER v.s. BUILDER FIGHT!!! :D :D :D That was FUN.

Sadly, a teammate rushed out of base, rushed past us and shot the granger a few times. Granger died immedialty with my next blast. Too bad.

True. Very, very true. I mean it's SO true that it only VERY RARELY HAPPENS.

Oh, man. That staircase base fails, but is fun as hell to play. :D

Yeah I guess, but luckily, my team were good, so we won yay!  :D

lol, I like how I brought this base up for discussion in the "Common base locations" thread, about a week ago. Coincidence?

Anyway, it's a pretty lousy base unless you have a really good team, and if that's the case, your base doesn't need any defense since your awesome team should be pinning the hummies down anyway.

The biggest downfall of the ledge is that the OM is in shooting range. And so, to defend the OM, you need defenses at the doors to that entire hallway, which kind of negates the height advantage.

And what you need most of all are hives, because their constant damage keeps jetpackers grounded. But then they shoot them down and proceed to own your base. imo, the only use of that ledge is to hide an egg, because they need to go get a jetpack in order to destroy it.

A human base there is interesting, but the reactor can be sniped. Not to mention, marauders and dragoons can jump up top, and there isn't even room up there for a defense computer.

I've seen that base used as a "backup" for a small space in SST (Land of 1000 "bad ideas" waiting to happen) and that was... disconcerting... to say the least the first time I played it.

Well... Sorry, but need to say that your moving method is bad... Aliens can move without OM removed. It makes others playing hard when OM is away long time and it may also turn sertain victory to losing (if humans are almost dead, bigger aliens is needed to kill the base) and especially when they get no info about OM removal... So.. Your moving kinda suc*... Sry..

I agree with Xonya here.
That's why I alwasy tell people to never move the OM, at least not in the begining.
Build all you want to build at the new base, then either let hummies take the old OM or decon when everyone is evolved and killing.

I KNOW that, it's just that that game was only a server with like.. one human and two aliens. And that human didn't do anything, so what's the point of going back and forth when you can just decon all of them becuase the human wasn't doing anything?

Also, I was going to put eggs on that new base first, but then I realized that I don't have any build points (cause the other guy put all the buildings right beside the enemy's base) so I had to decon stuff near me first.
