Game Start Timer and Ignore List in Trem

This, annoying, I know. I'm just sick of a map ending and by the time I've connected to a new map (bout fourth or fifth) I find that people have already joined humans and moved base to a better location. Just something like a minute or 30 seconds would be enough to stop people from doing this.

If this can already be done but is something server side please tell me how to change the config file so I can talk to the people who run the servers I play in about it with exactly how to do it as well.

Just because someone has a good computer doesn't mean they should get head start on everyone else cause they'll already get that through smooth gameplay and better connection.

The other thing I'm sick of is those bloody people who chat spam that other people won't kick. Is there an ignore list? (I tried /ignore #  where # is the number next to their name in !listplayers and it said unknown cmd) If it's already available could you please tell me how to do it? Otherwise could it be put in. I don't mind binds... I just hate binds being repeatedly used or privately messaged in gameplay.

I saw something in FAQ about annoying private messages but it said 'forum administrator can fix it so they can't send private messages' so I'm assuming it didn't mean gameplay. =)

Please, someone, help me... Somehow... I'm begging you...

It helps if you stay on smaller servers.

If you play on a server other than SST, you won't have to reconnect 4 or 5 times.

Er, did you read my post? I was saying... A map ends. ALIENS WIN or whatever. New map loads. Some people load it faster then others. So me, having a decent but not top end computer, load the next map as about the fourth/fifth person. However some people who have joined faster have already moved the base before many people have connected. Moving it to a more easily fortified position.

I think it's poor play to already have a better base before the other team has had a chance to gather their wits.

Play on AKKA since it has a 20 second warmup.
It's exactly what you're looking for.

Wow, your load time is very bad, I bet I could kill the alien base before you joined a map :D

The game sure could use a small warmup time by default. Like in W:ET

Until Trem comes up with a warm-up-phase...

Make sure that you have latest drivers for your chipset and trem on your fastet HDD.
It helps if you try something like this

i second the vote for /ignore. It's not that critical for me since i only play at db@-servers where i can kick the annoying spammers, but for all others it is really useful  :D

There is a command in the game, warmup and dowarmup. Unfortunatly, R1 is the only one who has patched it. Hopefully TJW will add this to the next installation of g_admin.

As for !ignore, that could fit perfectly in g_admin.

Thanks for everyone's input. As I said at the start, I'd hope the ignore command wouldn't be admin side... But player side... So each player can decide whether he wants to ignore another player for whatever reason.

My reasons are along the lines of:

ZoMg Joo Got Pwndzorz
Lmao I just poond ya tyrant, howd it feel?
You just got soaped!
I WiN! I WiN!

and god knows how many others that get used two to four times in a row everytime they kill something or spammed at the end of the game. Not to mention the private spams... Which theres nothing you can do about cept leave the server.

Sure, I know someones gonna say, "Just ignore it." Well you try ignore it after 2 hours of it. Just grinds ya down. And other people even faster. I might be slowly getting used to it but the newer players get really ticked off. I even had one player in another forums admit that he "uses his binds to start arguements" and that "its cause he likes to finish it".

Some people might like this so called "funny byplay" but I know alot of people hate it. How can you enjoy the game if someone is doing their best just to piss you off?

Vote them out? You can try. Unfortunately only the person/people being harassed hit yes so the sod stays in the game.

If I never, ever get a warmup timer or something I'd KILL to be able to ignore people. I mean it.

Most of the people in these forums play on servers such as SST which those of you who play on it will know it.  I've checked my ping of over 300 on it. So you might not have to worry about chat spammers... And jesus... 52 people in it you'd have no time to chat spam... In the smaller 16 player servers that I get a reasonable ping in there are alot of binds and chat spams going on because its so small at the start a fair bit of camping can happen.

I rant too much.

I should spend more time making Turrets and playing drentches. Also, I have to play on the main Tremulous server called SST.

I mean !ignore is a permission in g_admin, but the defaults have it at every user, and it isnt like a universal mute, you just dont get that player's messages, and it should even save them to a local file.

Erm, Barney, we already have an admin-controlled ignore command, it's called mute.

In CS you can ignore people's mics, but (to the best of my memory) not their text chat. That's as far as I'd push the ignore feature. The only time it's worth ignoring text is when some guy has a bind doing this

player1: LOL
player1: LOL

non-stop. And if that happens, noone will disagree with a votekick.

Rippy, say suzynasty says your a dirty poo poo head, and just makes snide comments every now and then, not spamming. No admin i know would mute for that, but you might want to not see the messages. Hence !ignore

Good point. Although, depending on the server, it's often good fun to seek that player out and deal 3/4 FF damage to them, then run off. :D

Some kind of warm up thing will be in the next version, and I too would really like to see an ignore command.
