3rd person view?
« on: September 21, 2006, 09:02:47 pm »
Hey, is there a way to see the screen 3rd person viewing? I'm just wondering you know, because that'd be pretty nice...

Summary: If you have cheats enabled on a server you can 3rd person view yes.. but not by default... there is no setting.

If cheats are enabled then:

/set cg_thirdperson 1 to enable third person view (0 to disable)
/set cg_thirdpersonrange [range] to set camera distance
/set cg_thirdpersonangle [angle] to set camera angle in the horizontal plane (i.e. an angle of 0 to look at your tail and an angle of 180 to look at your head)

Use /devmap [mapname] to start a local server with cheats enabled.

Thirdperson view is generally disallowed on most if not all servers.

Because you can look around corners with it, without having to reveal yourself. Clan [GA] did this in Q2GLoom.

I guess I'll have to agree with you, because in "Starwars Battlefront," you can see as 3rd person so you can see enemies hiding, coming from behind, and other stuff... very cheap, but very usefull :D
