Thermal - Beta 1
« on: September 25, 2006, 05:55:54 pm »
Please keep in mind, this is a tentative release and there are still texture and brush problems that need sorting out. This is a playtest release so I can get results on things that should be fixed or changed. I also need to optimize a bit more and stick some hint brushes in some spots.

Thermal was built to be a somewhat balanced map with fast gameplay and lots of base locations. In fact I designed a number of the rooms to be very fun or easy to build bases for humans and aliens. Travel times are very low to encourage moving. I hope you like it and I expect lots of feedback, good and bad.

Nice Work! it looks fresh and exciting and quite different to the current crop of maps, its a bit rough around the edges in some places imo but it looks like it will be interesting to play.

when you say "tentative" or w/e, you mean you can not play as a human or alien? Because I'm wondering if this is a mistake or not...    don't know what thoes words you are saying means...

I think this map has some nice potential. Gameplay wise though there still aren't any 'true' base locations you can move too. I like the yellow tints in the map, maybe you could expand this in the somewhat bland areas. Architecture is interesting so i was surprised to see certain things like the area around doors go undetailed while other things were supremely done like the weapon rack.
Also a warning to you and any other mappers. Be careful with playerclip in certain locations. I for one was a bit annoyed with not being able to hide above the lava dam, or enter the area near the lava. Try to find different methods of restricting movement since playerclip is a last resort and can break the feeling of a map.
All other things seem well. Keep it up and get it done for the next version of trem :).
I’m busy. I’ll ignore you later.

oops, haha, it's not your fault that the class selection didn't work, it was me, the key setting was messed up... sorry
no hard feelings?

now about the map, it looks very good. I tried to fall into the lava right beside the human base. The teleporter was awesome, I was really suprised at first :P
