Quote from: 1337 1I'm pretty sure the humans aren't all clones...
... Why?

Because they are mercenaries. They fight for money. They aren't a Government Project in cloning. They are just trained dudes.

Or they could be soldiers in the army.  Although, I like the mercenaries option.

Quote from: 1337 1And not just in the future buddy.  If anyone makes Pornulous, I will personally take great pleasure in torturing them to death.  I can see no reason why anyone would jack off to that.

For the record, it isn't something I want, it's just something which I suspect would appeal to a large group of people (which increases the chances of someone actually doing it).

I think the lore is that it's corporations and their hired armies. Not sure though.

If this makes no sense, I've got a decent reason for it.
nything I do or say is probably extremely stupid, and likely to cause me embarrasment in the future.

Paradox

Many games have female characters, that don't provoke pervertedness. Look at halo 2. In the art of halo, they have a whole section on how the marines didn't have skintight body suits. Look at Miranda keys, she is a girl, young, and yet looks military.

dormedas

Paradox makes a point here. The army (at least for the U.S.A.) isn't sexist when it comes to armor. I mean, like, they aren't going to send out a platoon of females (for example) wearing nothing but skin-tight spandex with no armor/kevlar vests. They just aren't that stupid. I'd reccomend that we not be stupid as well, and for that matter perverted.

Taiyo.uk

Agreed. Military uniform generally doesn't differ much between men and women (not in the UK at least). Perhaps the torso and legs skin could be re-used with little or no modification for a female model?

techhead

Use the same bitmap, and tweak the model.

The marines are mercenaries hired by the Haos Redro corporation (see the word "HAOS" on the armory?) to clear out alien infestations on Haos Redro property (ships, planets, bunkers, mines, etc.). That said, I've always been a fan of more customization for exactly that reason. How often do you see mercenaries outfitted exactly the same?
Stop it. Seriously.

Since Primark started selling £2.50 uniforms?

I'm not totally sure if there is an exact storyline.  However, there is a little that can be inferred from the game (in Transit, there are signs saying "Do your part" with a family squashing dretches), so the assumption is that there is some (government?) organisation hiring soldiers/ mercenaries.

That's from Starship Troopers.

It's a joke.

Uhhhhhhh..... no.

Especially not signs and things. Or files named "read me".

But its hard to fit the common gaming wenches with 44EE chests into kevlar.

Ooh, there's a backstory if i'd bothered to scroll down that page

I'm not even reading the posts i'm responding to anymore, including this one.. its just a coincidence that it seems like I did.

It would be nice to have a reasonable female, and maybe some variation in faces for humans.. but its ultimately unnecessary for the game.
There are a ton of other neater things i'd rather have the devs spend their time on than that. Also anyone who proposes a female model without a headband is clearly not in the best interest of the tremulous spirit.

Okay, I can understand that.  However, IMHO, your idea of "neater things" probably involves things like new weapons etc.  We are talking about making it so that the "hired mercenaries" do not all look exactly the same, as this is, from a storyline point of view, highly unrealistic.

That, and we want to be able to use different models than the one we have right now.  There is such a thing as variety, believe it or not.

And also...

RE: anime chicks

Any objections?  Thought not.

Actually, that's an Android.

We don't need androids.

Quote from: ^BlackActually, that's an Android.

Its more human than an android.  While this is a little off topic, the girl in that pic was from an anime which has the purpose of questioning where the line between human and robot begins.

If you disagree, can a robot, or android, cry?

Sure.

The real question is, is it physically possible to include anime chicks w/o the giant swordfighting robots?

People, meet Lunamaria Hawke:

(warning: FREAKING DISGUSTING)

just... eww

Quote from: |Nex|TrEmMaWhoa whoa whoa, what's with all the racism here.  There can be female humans, but no mention of female aliens?  You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

No, we've gone there, and it was rather disturbing.

I remember one particularly disturbing picture of a female Tyrant.

I've been trying to forget, thank you very much  :x .

PIE

No.. that one is just fat... and wearing lipstick.. perhaps thats blood from all the peoples it just ate to get so fat actually.

Taiyo.uk

Ok, from recent posts, I have come to a conclusion:

NO ANIME CHICKS. NO SWORDFIGHTING ROBOTS. NO REAL GIRLS DRESSED AS ANIME CHICKS. NO FAT SLAPPER TYRANTS.

All we need is a reasonably proportioned female model with a headband. Reasonably proportioned meaning in the same way that the male model doesn't look like mr.universe and doesn't appear to have a third leg.

techhead

No miniskirts, no double D's, etc.

This is how the marine should be done:
Sorry if the image is huge, it links to flickr, the text is readable on full size.

Not really unless you want people running around in their naval dress uniforms.

Though in the Halo Universe they may have suprising bullet-resisting fibres, in most others they don't.

Just to do that pointing out minor details thing, Motoko Kusanagi (I did have to look the name up, BTW) is a human in a fully cyborg body. We could get into a debate about whether she is actually human or not (perhaps she is just a programmed copy with a robotic body, etc. etc.), but I'm pretty sure the title of this thread does not contain the word 'philosophy'.

I think they actually came in close to the start of the thread. If not swordfighting ones, I'm pretty sure there were giant robots mentioned.

Human-like intelligence in robotic body = Android.
