Wow, you guys are neglecting the single most ingenious idea.

The third race is genetically augmented WW2 Wehrmacht soldiers, transported through time to combat the alien menace. As far as storyline is concerned, the Wehrmacht successfully eliminate all aliens, then proceed to put all ethnic and religious marines into concentration camps. Then Herbert, the one dretch who survived without the Wehrmacht noticing, sabotages the German execution machines to free all the marines. Then the commanding Marine, Sgt. Smith, lives a wonderful life having wacky adventures with Herbert. There's a television show spinoff, and millions of dollars worth of Herbert and Smith merchandise. They'd even have their own theme song.

Oh, and one more thing: The main disadvantage to the GANG (Genetically Augmented Nazi Germans) is that all players continuously yell "Granate!", as per this ytmnd. Sucks when other players hear you going "Granate! Granate! Runter, Granate!" as you try to sneak up on them.

how is a mod, like tremx, made anyway, and how does trem find it (the mod)?

For the phantoms idea I got a solid base and growth tree(phantom units).

Growth Tree

Builders(50 hp) -> can turn into builders+(75 hp) at s2
Builders+ can attack but normals can't
Builders -> can turn into Small attackers(50 hp) (half human size)

Small attackers -> can turn into Small attacker+(100 or 75 hp) at s3

All small attackers(and+type) can turn into Middle attackers(150 hp)

Middle attackers can turn into Middle attackers+(200 hp) at s2 or Large Attacker(500 hp) at s3

Middle attackers+ can fly so they can kill flying people.

But here is the catch you need to suck the health out of humans or aliens(high damage). So when you get 200 hp you can grow into a middle attacker+ but when your health goes lower than 200 you ungrow to normal middle attacker.

Phantoms Building

1. Phantom Flooder
-makes a pool of health sucking goo and slow you down actives when person or alien passes it

2. Phantom Wall (hard to make)
-a wall that hurts alot if you step thought, phantom can go thought without a worries.

3. Phantom Grabber
-noodle like thing attacks you holds on( + )

4. Gaia
-the center makes spirits, build points (ei   or for phantoms)

5. Phantom Spawner
- I think you will this one

I don't think anyone wants to directly rip off that movie and sort of patch it into tremulous... I like the vampire mode kind of idea and think it could easily be added into tremulous either as a mod or class somewhere.. but a whole team based around the phantoms idea just creates a lot of the issues people have had with a lot of other suggestions.. like another flying class etc.

SC is far too deeply seated in my mind. There is no alternative to human, alien, and humanoid techno-race!

Then again, I think Warhammer 40k was too deeply seated in Blizzard's mind, considering the gigantic rip-off. But they had other races anyway.
