I would like tremulous to have a built in minimizer.

Theres a lot of little 'minimizer' programs around that allow you to minimize a specific quake3 game by pressing a key combination like Ctrl + Shift + End to minimize and Ctrl + Shift + Home to maximize.

I know theres the Alt+enter, but that takes way too long. Minimizing with one of these minimizers will just make the window shrink from fullscreen down to nothing - just as fast as any other window would. No reloading everything. Just as fast to maximize.

it's really annoying when that happens, I can't get it back to normal. How do I do that?

Can't do that, the screen is frozen.
Also, when it isn't frozen, I can't move my mouse

Or just play the game windowed, you get a slight FPS hit but you can alt-tab to your heart's content.

Playing in windowed mode is a quick formula for failure. It is impossible to be really good in an FPS game in windowed mode. TJW's Tremulous backport allows for ALT-TABbing just fine.

Not really, if you suck in windowed mode then you'll still suck in full screen mode. It doesn't alter skill levels.

If you have windows, and the latest version of TJW's backport, open up your autogen.cfg file, and look for/add the string win_allowAltTab and change it from 0 to 1.

Next time you boot trem up, you can press alt tab to switch through windows.

You cant edit this from in game, it is read only.

No need to edit any files.  Just do:
Code: [Select]

/win_allowAltTab 1
/vid_restart

The value will be automatically written to your autogenerated config.
