Ever have a silly or stupid idea on something to add to the game?
Post your bad weapon/class/equipment suggestions here.
The worse the game balance, the better the post.
I'll start.

"Infester"
2 Evolve Points
Like a dretch, but with no attack abilities.
Instead, can pounce and infest any human it touches.
If it misses, it dies.
If successful, it takes control of the body until the body dies.
Turrets, teslas, reactors will not recognize the infested human.
It cannot buy more ammo or new weapons and equipment.
Cannot use medpacks or medstations, but has inherint healing.
Construction kits can build structures for the humans, easy to sabotage by wasting build points
However cannot deconstruct, and humans will need to recognize the alien for who he is.
Look for green blood, a lack of your teammate's name, or an extra player on your team.
And beware of team-kills, they show up as normal kills in the log when the alien shoots you.
Can hurt you even if FF is off.
You can hurt him even if FF is off.
He cannot hurt/be hurt by aliens.

why stop at adv goon? go all the way: one shot OM dead and eggs half dead regardless of their possion on the map.
It's actualy Noobius but i can't be bothered to change it ^^

There are a lot of people who proposed a lot of "infestion" ideas. Most of them were clueless noobs proposing ideas far too unbalanced.
But, you know what ? I love your version of this idea.
First, you allow the dead human to respawn (since you speak about the "extra player") instead of spectating himself once he is infected.
Second, you added a lot of signs that will allow to find the intruder, rather than making it the ultimate weapon.
Third, you didn t allow people to decon.

Really, I think it would be a lot of fun even as a human (this game lacks a bit of paranoia :D). It would be less fun on non-FF servers since it would be easy to check on your teammate (since you can just shoot at everything which is moving) but that's not a big deal. Of course 2 evo points is too low but except for that, this idea is GREAT.

Hmm.... Infested.... For some reason I have a mental image of a human running around with a dretch for a head.

Hmm.... Adv.dretch = headcrab...

First weakness I thought of with your idea:

Build a few telenodes in alien base = Spawnkiller's dream.

Sure it's different and kind of interesting, but I doubt it'd work too well in reality. Unintented tking might increase. It might be too powerful since there'd be little stopping you from walking into human base and causing a lot of damage - I imagine that others would be often busy and not notice it. And it's a distraction for your teammates just as well.

Actually i thought about it this night and i know it cant be done but not for theses reasons :

I thought about the spawnkillers too but i dont think it will be a major problem : Since the infester cant buy anything, he will need to take possession of a builder. Most of the time the builder is in the base so the bug wont be able to reach him...If the builder is near the turrets, it's up to him to not get hit by the damn bug or warn his teammates that he got killed by what might be an infester so they better hurry to get it before he comes back to the alien base. If he is trying to move the base, he should always be with a guard : thats already true now, infester wont change this much...the difference is the guard will get another mission if he fails to protect the builder : to "kill" him when he gets infected.

As for the "lot of damage" that will only happens if human base is left without protection/if humans are too stupid to check whether the name of the player appears. This whole "No Name = BAD" is really what makes this version of this idea different from the others propositions. When you defend the human base, check every incoming player : You see a human without name ? Shoot him, green blood will appear, and everyone will know its an intruder so he will go down very fast.

The real problem why this idea is bad is that what protect the humans from a alien rush is their RANGED DEFENCE buildings. Allowing an infected to use a RANGED WEAPON would allow them to destroy the defences easily without taking any damage (even a blaster would be enough if you ve got a tyrant to protect you while doing it). We already try to hide human base from Adv goon but that's easy since they dont fire in straight line. On the other hand, the human weapons have a straight line of fire and unlimited range. So if you see the turret, you can destroy it.

Unless the infested human can't switch weapons, then when it runs out of ammo, it's no longer a threat to turrets.

This idea is one of the few good infestation ideas.

oo i got a sily idea

its called teh "NUKE"

Costs: 2000
humans only!!
It will do 350dmg to anything in its blast radius
It will have a blast radius of 5 times the grenade
It will also leave radiation in where ever it blew up, this radiation will do 20 dmg per 10/secs
Will explode after 10 seconds of it being dropped
Will hurt other humans regardless of FF
No weapons and battlesuit can be equipped when using this due to its size
Will be a very big weapon and will restrict the humans speed of movment

i have thought of this 'infectation' idea myself.

why not make it so that the infector and the human strive for control.
when you are grabbed by a basilisk, you can still move your crosshair, but you will have a certain strong restraint.

you could make the infestation more like this, the infecting alien would have the most control, but the frantic human player would still be able to 'twithch' the alien around a bit.

could also walk a bit, but the infector's walking would override it in such a way that he would have a minimal control on where the player was going.

in this way, it would be hard for the 'infector' to ruin everything, and other players coukld look after the 'twitching' that would come of this.

also there could be a slight skin difference, or animation difference, like a frantic expression and /or drooling.

Pls no.

What is interesting in techhead's approch is that the infected player respawns. So he doesnt have to waste his time spectating himself. Imagine i m destroying alien's base, and i got infected...I can stay like this for a looooong time till someone actually kills me (Aliens arent  gonna kill an infected, and unskilled/cowards humans may not be able/willing to go to the alien base and get me out of this mess). This would block human players and will soon become very annoying.

javascript:emoticon(':D')- Controlled or Automatic Large Robots that Builders can let loose on invading Alien monsters. They would attack the creatures either "bare"- handed or with the same kind of weapons the humans have.

- Controlled or Automatic Nanobots that Builders can let loose on invading Alien monsters. They can swarm on the creatures the same way the Wasp  Aliens do.

- There should be other kinds of Vehicles that the humans can have access to or at least build...

Miniture Dune Buggy

Levitating Vespa/Scooter/Cycle

Teleporter Discs like in Star Trek or more recently, in Stargate SG-1

- Temporary invincibility, perhaps in a personal force field!
- Ah! Force Field Generators, that can be attacked.
- Giant Laser Gun that a human can sit in, sit in a chair and look through target visor/computer monitor.


I hope you guys like at least some of these ideas...

As for the infestation idea - what about this: if a dretch would kill a human by headbite, and alien team has got stage two at least, he would infest the human instead of killing him.

Now, it counts normally towards his kill count, but he has exactly 60 seconds to do something with his new infested human : after first fourty, the suicide timer will start.

As far as I can tell, this would mean several things:

Firstly, the spawnkilling problem is solved, as the infested one hasn't a chance to build a telenode in a powerless location such as alien base, unless the humans let two or more builders be stolen away from base and not hunted down, in which case they clearly deserve it.

Secondly, it would make the "useless defences" discussion less critical, since it takes time to reach the base and with the alien forced to act quickly, far less time would be available to destroy defences, thus making it not nearly as important, unless the humans were already under siege.

And, it seems only fair, since humans can be infiltrated, what about making a brain control secondary mode for some weapon that would work only on aliens in "near death" health zone?

What if this alien can revive dead bodies and use them for 60 seconds, with the same amount of ammo and such as the guy had when he died. You can unhost yourself whenever you want and if you are in there when the 60 seconds are up, you die. Dead bodies can look like..well..dead bodies. AKA "Missing limbs and stuff, Gore level can be adjusted by in-game option menu :D"

Lag could be avoided by only recently dead bodies retaining ammo information, thereafter, the body goes away in the time it normally does.

Tremulous needs mech warriors, medipack/drugs that get human health up to 200hp, robots, turrets that players can control, repairbots for human base and wizards
