beergarden admins?
« on: November 19, 2006, 01:58:41 am »
I got banned from beergarden for 5 days(!!!!) for no reason.

I was playing for a couple of hours while MegaMan was on as admin.  I didn't play terribly well or terribly badly, but i did beat him once or twice in kills...

anyways, I never got kicked, talked to, or anything, but when I came back later that day to play again, I was banned for 5 days by MegaMan, because of "decon"... I never played as a granger or ckit guy the entire time I was on there, and I didn't have a single TK or damage a building.  No one ever said anything to me one way or the other...

so, accidental ban or something?  or are some of the beer garden admins just cranky and arbitrarily decide to ban people?  5 days seems a bit extreme too.

it's not that big of a deal, but I like playing on Beergarden because I get really good ping there and generally like the way things are set up.  And i like beer, so that counts for something too. :D

it would be nice to have a recourse to follow in the event of a ban that seems wrongful.

Beer garden is a good server with good admins.. i'm sure it was a misunderstanding of some sort.. but as said above.. we have a special thread that has all the admin contact info in it and a lot of times they (server admins in general) don't really like it when you go and make a thread when you get banned.

It would be nice if Mario would update the list with all that posted info.. but:
#BeerGarden & #trepdiation @ irc.tnlsoft.com
i'd say is your best bet. other info just incase (you have to scroll for it its not in that main list) :

You mean, the admin contact thread? Sorry but if I cannot sticky already sticky threads.

given the fact that he's new as admin (only a week or two), thats a given mistake. however i'll have to chat with him a bit, making sure he's not abusing power.

I'v seen instances where the admins stack a team on beergarden, 5 minutes into the game it's obvious their team is going to win due to sheer killcount, and when you do the first nextmap vote of the game, it's stopped when it's going to pass...

I'll agree with this, even as a BG admin.  I try not to do it often, but everyone wants to win, and if you're not on St.Anger's team, good luck doing so :P.  On a slightly more serious note, I have been trying to not do this, and we often see quite good matches with some of the players (some of whom aren't admins) are very balanced.

Though often it means I'm just going to get crushed.. I almost always try to get on the opposite team of anger... though noone ever follows my lead. It ends up being me and a couple of new guys vs anger and the pros... I don't see the point in being on a team that stacked. You don't have to do anything at all. I guess thats just because I enjoy killing with skill, than by taking advantage of a lack of it.
Not saying stack against anger every game.. that isn't fair (or is it?), but c'mon guys.. you don't help me out nearly enough.. and while they almost always go over there, I prettymuch never see a !putteam (which is what i would consider abusive).

i dont putteam and i dont stack in the beginning, y cause i always join games late : ( usually both teams are already s3 whenever i jump on games.  people say im never on. im never on my usual name. im an alias whore and i grab random names. hence i dont care about what place im in on the rankings. no point caring if u use a crapload of names.

but sometimes i do like to play with my friends on teh same team. y cause they know what their doing, not complete noobs that will ruin game after i put some effort in it (worst thing i dont like).

but you cant deny the fact that i do sometimes join the going to lose team :P mainly because one of my other friends are stuck on there alone and i'd feel like a dick to leave him there ;)

on a side note i will continue to stress that if u want to whine and complain do it on bg.tnlsoft.com/bg2 site not this one cause it wont solve ur flaming problems

You do realize by doing that you destroy your server pop, right?

Not to mention I'v come up with a far better strategy; go spectate, inform the team that they're going to lose as the teams stacked, and if they want to play the game, find another server.

All I read is "the admins" are bad.
I have yet to read a post either where an abusive was named or the badness was explained...

because apparently there isnt. people get banned cause they deserve it and all they do is come here instead of the proper place to complain

which again ill say is bg.tnlsoft.com/bg2

so instead they come here and start flaming us because their just little baby trolls  :P
