Idea - make chat icon only apply to global chats

I've been thinking about this one for awhile, decided to post it now.

Quite often as alien I find myself in a dark corner of the human base in a perfect spot to spy and report what I see to my team mates. Only I end up with a major chance of giving away my position due to the chat icon from Vanilla Quake 3 that shows up above every player's head when they're typing. So I'd like to purpose this: Make the icon only apply to global chats, so players can team chat without giving away their position.

How about only making it visible to teammates since you really can't expect people to NOT attack you if you're in messagemode or accessing an armory. Or just get rid of it altogether.

the icon is so people don't type-kill.  It doesnt seem to do any good in this type of game though.  (Im guilty of it too)  

Personally, I don't really care if my teammates are at the armory or typing something, so I think it should be done away with.

If I see someone typing, I go for them immediately.

I used to hold back.....

until I realised they were usually building turrets or acid tubes...  now I show no mercy

but I do love that smilie face
