Dear forum users and tremulous players,

   SST has costed $1,908 this year, and soon, our host will bump the price up.

On the other hand I did point out that layeredtech.com was and is too expensive to be used.
I feel with you guys, if you loose SST. But face it there are loads of server provider around that do it better, w/o windows and cheaper.

Even if I were a player on SST I would not be coerced into giving money...
Why should anyone pay for the failed attempt of selling overpriced crap?

All im asking is for a little bit in return, however I see that that is too much. You people are fools and really do not know how good you have it. Anthony Chuck is not the owner, he is the holder of the domain. The attempt at selling space was the attempt at gaining some lost profit back via the extra space that we had, we did not start up "a business", so to speak. I am sorry, then I read the data wrong. Say when exactly did SST open up?
I thought it was way after  19 Apr 2004, which is the date achosting.net was registered, which in turn is also a business and the host to SST-hosting (registered 02 Nov 2005). Both domains are owned by said Chuck. As both businesses have no imprint the domain holder IS the owner.

Wow.  You do realize that the ungrateful bastards you are referring to are busy playing on your server, and that most of them probably don't visit this forum?  A lot of the people on this forum are server operators, who donate their own time and resources to run a server. There are MANY MANY servers, (+90 my last count) so the likelihood that tremulous will go pay to play is just above nil?

No offense, but noone here asked you donate a +50 slot server to the public.  A lot of us donate resources as we can, time, etc.  We do not expect anything in return except to have a good game on occasion.

I don't play in SST. That being said, I give thanks for the effort of keeping the server up. Now, if you can't afford it, just give out, and please, don't understand it as any kind of missrespect. It's simply not worth it. There are many other servers, half of them empty the whole time. Stop wasting your money in something that isn't really needed at this moment.

Personally, I had given up on this server.  The uncontrolled noob fest, nade endings and early SD made it unenjoyable to play.  Now, it auto-selects the team (Aliens/Human) to automatically put you on?  I see it as no great loss, but as I said in the beginning.  That's just me.

Not to argue-
But I don't think failed would be correct.  I think it is unsustainable.  The type of players that SST attracts are not the ones that either have money to donate, or are willing to donate the money they have.

I have always voluntarily supported the servers I game on and will continue to, just as I have donated to Tremulous developement itself.

I find it hard to have sympathy for anyone who asks for someone for money to support a server they don't play on and then proceeds to insult them and call them ungratefull even though most of these people IN NO WAY BENIFITED from SST being up and running at all in the first place.
Go blame the person who asked you to start a 50 slot server and get them to fork over money for you.

But seriously, most of the "experienced" SST players probably won't move there because they don't have their precious tjw commands and they don't automatically get admin for getting over 5 kills.  The number of !listplayers and /m's in the chatbox on AKKA when SST wasn't on the list was incredible.

I'm sure given the amount of power they would assume, someone will come along and make a "new" SST.

I'll play whatever server has FF before I play AKKA.  Size isn't everything, at least in video games.
