The repeater is generally useless. Jex had an idea to make it into a mini reactor. To keep the turrets, if inrange of the repeater radius, online if the reactor goes down. Moving the base would be less dangerous too.

The repeater would be used more if it didn't cost so mush, I think.

I don't. I've seen human teams try to set up forward fronts and they're always very easy to run down. Now if teams received extra build points at each upgrade then maybe humans could afford to make an armory and/or medstation (which are the only real reasons to have a forward base) and the necessary turrets to defend them, but as it stands humans do best when they clump all of their vital structures behind a wall of turrets that doesn't need to change direction much.

However, Jex's idea is a good one because it would enable humans to relocate their base mid-game without disabling all of their defenses (which is suicide once aliens have frags). Mid-game is also when humans get jetpacks, so being able to move then would be very nice.

I think it'd be interesting if for each of the two 'stage up's, the humans would be able to build 1 repeater that added to the total power.  Either placing it in the base so that they can increase the number of base defences, or taking them out to build small forward bases.

I'd rather just see the teams get a few more build points at each level and maybe make the repeater free to build. Making the repeater give more build points would essentially require humans to build them when they become available (if they want to be as competitive as possible) and I think it'd be simpler and less restrictive (more fun!) to just give them the points and let them build as they wish.

It would be interesting to see if the repeater is used on maps with a greater number of build points available. Since they almost all just use the default quantity at the moment I think it's a little early to be pronouncing the repeater useless. Besides, every buildable does not necessarily need to be useful in every game.
