i can build with 100 bps and hold back S3 SD aliens for a good 10 minutes, something thats impossible to pull off on SST with 260 bps.

same maps, close to the same player counts, no noob building.

As for SST, I reckon less BP, and no FF is a good idea. I can't stande FF. Damn teamkillers! That's why I don't play on SST or Beergarden any more.

I really don't understand why people flame SST for BP's and amount of players.
If anything, flame for shitty admins (not all of you but a few really need a slap behind the ears)

SST can be a lot of fun if you're playing with good people from other servers.
While I really hate SST building style cretins, it's amazing what good builders can build on SST (non SST builders that is).
It's also fun to have an all out fight with the enemy without worrying about coming back to a dead base.
As long as you can relax and not flip out about being TK'ed, SST can be loads of fun. After all, you can work up your creds faster the you can say "cookie"  :wink:

It's not great but any of the good bases would be impossible to get to with 12+ players per team.

Each server appeals to its own gamers. SST hosts Subspace mainly, and that is a MMO with ships and space and stuff. SST is the MMO of tremulous, with high player count, and high bp count.

well I tried SST when all the servers I used to go to were all empty (I was playing REALLY late. I mean, REALLY REALLY LATE) and well, I guess I had little bit of fun...
we played in ATCS Alphazone and because of so many bps, the aliens put tubes and eggs right front of the human base... but some people and I got rid of that.
I guess it was okay... but because of so many bps... no one can really attack, until aliens charged at the same time and we got totally owned...

problem is the high BPS teaches the noobs bad building then they come to the real servers and build the same way there.

The funny (or sad thing) is that familiar players on SST don't build poorly, its just the new people.  Bad building affects SST like anyone else.  Unfortunately, all bad building is the sole responsibilty of SST (at least on the tremulous forums).

Last night so idiot moved the reactor into a position that caused half the base to be out of the powergrid.  And I'm not talking distance structures, I'm talking on a very common map that rarely gets the reactor moved.

This SST bashing is getting stupid, I have seen idiot builders before SST was opened, and I have seen idiot builders after it opened, so how does idiot builders have ANYTHING to do with SST ??

Maybe idiot builders are just that, idiot builders, just like you will always see battlegrangers, thats not SSTs fault, its the idiot who is piloting the grangers who is at fault, contributing bad player behaviour to SST is just childish.

A good builder can build a good base with 100 points, and he/she can build a good base with 260 points, a bad builder is sure to mess up no matter how many/few points he have.

Personally I play SST because I like playing on big servers, and find that having 260 BPS adds some fun to the mix.

no, ive built several times and held back groups larger than that all the way to their base falling or to timelimit.
