More Scheduled Games

To help collect game statistics for tweaking the balance we need to organise more games of Tremulous. There's been discussion in the feedback forum about this and I thought it best to make a new thread here. The tentative consensus has been to have games on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of every week at an hour or so earlier than the usual time. So we'd begin loitering on the server and IRC channel at 20:00 UTC/GMT until enough people show up then play into the evening. Remember, the East Coast of the United States is currently at UTC/GMT -4 so we'd start getting together about 16:00 there (4:00 PM). If you'd much rather have a game at a different time discuss it here, I'm sure everyone can be accommodated.

Get Tremulous here: http://www.tardis.ed.ac.uk/~tma/tremulous-beta/

The IRC channel is: #tremulous irc.quakenet.org
The server is: acheron.r1gameservers.com:27960

Rgr that!

Maybe another news post on PQ would bring in some more freshmeat too.

erm, I believe the US east coast would be GMT -5.  They both observe daylight savings, if thats why you thought it might be -4.

Anyways... that would be noon for me (west coast) which may or may not work lots of the time. :/

As I understand it UTC/GMT isn't changed by daylight savings time but parts of Europe that would normally be in it are now using their summer times which are 1 hour ahead. So New York (presently in Eastern Daylight Time, UTC/GMT -0400) would still be 5 hours behind Edinburgh (British Summer Time, UTC/GMT +0100). So the all the places that observe daylight savings time change their time zones but UTC/GMT stays the same. And I just learned all this right now for this thread, so bear with me if I'm wrong.

PDT -0700 West Coast US
EDT -0400 East Coast US
WEST/IST/BST +0100 Western Europe

Perhaps we could make one of the days later in the evening for all the far westerners. I'd prefer that day to be friday (better to be up late on a friday rather than a monday or wednesday for most people right?). What time would be best, Overflow?

possible solution

it seams that a later time would be more acceptable for the majority of people..so how about we add on hour to the orig time (therefore gametime= gmt 2100) and if your the impatient type (me) u can join at the other time (gmt 2000) and idle (make a base or something) on the server till others join.

actually, I may end up working a late shift, so earlier might be better.

whatever though, if later works better for everyone else...

Start showing up again people! There've been a lot of changes to the balance, so if you haven't played in a while check the server (now at acheron.r1gameservers.com:27960) any time between 20:00 UTC and 23:00 GMT mondays, wednesdays, and fridays to see if anyone's there to play, or go to the IRC channel and tell people to join.

I think a frontpage (tremulous.net) announcement about playtesting and how to get Tremulous would help bring in more people. Never hurts to make things as easy as possible.

SHOW UP PEOPLE.

it seams really slow even for the off days...

i want to reopen discussion about the days/time as well... that way if its the time/day we might be able to change it. seams like alot of people want it to be later in the day, lets start there

fridays are the main test day, where most people show up

mon. & wed. are sopposed to be 'off test days' but very few people show up (i try to)

saturday which you suggested playing on is ok for me most weekends as well.
the mod community is rather small atm, if you can rally more players you might be able to get better games going on off days, also spam on IRC before you play
