I have a query...

Greetings people-
this is my first post on the forum.

I have a question:
As you can tell by my sig, I have the Mac version of Tremulous (Which I downloaded off Apple.com)
However, I wish to install atcszalpha and UTCSb2 since most servers have them in their play list (Including Aliens Wrath).
Now there lies the problem-
I cant install the maps !

I have downloaded them, however, when I try to place them in my BASE folder, I get the following message
"The item "map-UTCSb2.pk3" could not be moved because "base" cannot be modified"

What should I do ?!


         
And yes, I do find Grangers far too cute to shoot

Dude... whats your problem exactly?

When i see a map i don't have, i enter the server deliberatly and get an auto-dowload. Auto-install included. Never even have to quit tremulous.

Although the dowload speed is not teh best, it also automatically gives you time for a break... cuppa tea... buiscuit... sandwich... doughnut... wedding cake... so your eyes don't get destroyed and you don't get RSI.

So.... what was the problem, again??

Hmm ? Thats strage-
mine doesnt initiate a download  

It just disconnects me from the server.

This is a simple problem:

select your base folder and press [applekey] i
in the infobox, go to the tab Ownership&Permissions and set "you can" to "read & write".
Also, you can automaticly download map if you type "cl_allowdownload 1" (without the "") in the ingame console

however, here is a fun fact:
The drop down menu where you would select your Ownership is shaded out and is locked on 'Read and Write' in the first place.

EDIT_1:Oh, and to avoid confusion, yeah I am the computers admin.

disk images are read only, you should remove tremulous from the disk image. you should also put your maps into $HOME/Library/Application Support/Tremulous/base, not into the global trem folder.

It's not tooo hard to figure out, just go through it step by step and you can get it. Some of the unofficial maps are actually really good. And go to http://trem.tjw.org/backport/ and get the mac client from there.

you shouldn't have this problem if  you are an amin of  your computer. a screen should pop up to confirm your name and password, which you have to enter. it should be fine

btw i average 90/91 fps

It disconnects you when you don't have the map because you haven't set it to auto-download. It's in the options.

I also play on a Mac.
Based on what you've said, it seems most likely that you are playing off the .dmg.  Whenever you open the folder containing trem FROM THE DESKTOP(no shortcuts), do you open an icon that looks like a white external flopy drive?  If so, hold down OPTION and drag that "white external flopy drive icon" to whereever you want trem put on the computer.

As a side note, there should be a folder

This is where maps downloaded in game should appear.

EDIT_1: Actually, since we are on a similar topic, where should I place this one sound mod I have also downloaded ? Its for the weapons.
