Gmail just got perfect
« on: December 24, 2006, 06:22:05 am »
Well, Gmail now provides forwarding, POP downloads, online email, and...
Access to other POP email accounts. What does this mean? It means that Gmail works like a desktop client, and it can connect to other servers and get the messages from them. I got this feature, but i am not sure if it is released for everyone, because apparently it has been around for a while.

How is this new?

I've been using Gmail for a few years now (early beta tester) and all of these features have been there from almost day one.
I do agree that Gmail just plain rocks! ;)

The real question is: Why would any sane person want to use Gmail as his email client?

Depends on how much you trust Google not to fall back on its little spy mechanics.

I guess you should really read the ToS ...
GMail is not private.

I don't care how much google spy me, or how many info they get from me. Not having to see the ads from hotmail, or waiting like a minute for the yahoo inbox to load is a blessing.

Thanks Google! <3

Privacy, just like democracy, is overrated.
As far as using Gmail as an e-mail client:
While at home I use thunderbird but when on the road, Gmail is great to get all other e-mails from all the accounts on my phone without having to check them all individually.
It speeds up the process greatly.

Think of it this way. Your ISP already reads your email, what else is new?
