Is this a bug?

When you are a tyrant, you can charge someone then very shortly after slash them. You can only do this once per confrontation since you have to build up a charge to do so.

Is this a bug? Should people who do this get kicked?

The only reason I ask is because I was just now kicked from aliens wrath for doing so. I'm not going to name names because I don't have anything against napkin and wouldn't like to cause upset. I'd just like to hear what other people think about it.

I've only ever seen it as a feature. What do you think?

No, if you can do it with normal mouse clicks then its fine. I may get banned from AW for saying this but they do have a tendency to overreact (Yeah, like server admins ever overreact to anything :p ) so it won't be a problem.

If its something that uses a script to initiate, due to the time window being so small, like the goon pounce/chomp combo and certain luci spams, then yes it would be bannable (though kick first as a warning).

Summary: Its not a bug, as tyrant trample isn't really that effective anyway.

Since one thing uses it's legs as the primary thing to attack, and the other uses it's arm, there isn't any realistic reason it shouldn't be able to do this. So I don't think there's anything wrong with doing that.

I would have thought the developer is the one to decide what was meant to be in the game and what was not. That which is unintended and diruptive is what I'd call a 'bug'. There are some good example of unintended occurances in tremulous such as building through objects and deconning grangers, but these aren't that disruptive so long as they are well known. Even building in places you shouldn't have been able to, can make the game more interesting so long as everyone's ok with it.

I can see why people might get annoyed by some action that disrupts their view of how the game should be played. To me, the extent of 'exploitation' that goes on in tremulous only serves to make things more interesting/challenging.

Scripts are a different thing. If you came to play tremulous against people then the use of scripts will defy the point (unless of course the point is to have an unfair advantage). Programming skills can be impressive, and I don't have anything against someone trying their work out so long as they declare it first.

It just seems as though alot of people just don't like a challenge. They frustrate over their inability to circumvent the opponents strategy and settle for moaning about how the enemy must be cheating.

Not a bug. If you really did get kicked from AW there more to the story, because the only admin there who might have dodgy rights to his behaviour is lord byron, and i haven't seen him in a looooong time. (He ain't even that bad really)

Lol... talked to napkin the other day and i asked why someone was banned... The story he told me took about half an hour to tell... on msn!

And i'm sure i missed a few details ^^

meh, actually I take back my statement, it isn't AW admins in general, just napkin. Haven't even played there in a week and in that period I was apparently banned for whatever reason.

Who needs a script to pounce / chomp with a goon? You can pounce to the side, turn and chomp on the way past and still have time to charge the next pounce before you hit the ground, no script required. Then again, I got vote kicked the other day for doing exactly that, because the ZOMG! AIMBOT! HAX! squad outnumbered the decent players.

Come on, come on. If you don't want to play on AW that's fine by Caveman, as well as Napkin. I'm fairly sure of that.
But please, don't start flaming servers and admins. As long as you are a freeloader, playing for free on a server that requires real money to keep it running, your only right is to shut the fuck up.

Neo, you don't need this crap. There are far worse servers and people than Aliens' Wrath and it's admins. Concentrate on that;)
