For some reason, when i'm loading certain maps, it will stop, and i will get a message saying "Hulk_Alloc failed on 678624" and it will stop loading. This doesn't happen on all maps, only some. What could the problem be?

add "+set com_hunkmegs 100" when running quake3.
quake3.exe +set fs_game tremulous +set cl_allowDownload 1 +set com_hunkmegs 100

incase you were curious, the problem was some of the maps (
*cough*
mine
*cough*
) use more system memory than Q3 was originally designed for. But since it was released 5 years ago (what was your system like back then?) its common to set it higher now
